Anyone have any experience with dihydrocodeine? I have supposedly have some comming (finger crossed) from an email source I found on an OP forum.
I'm curious to hear what people thing about it. I know that it is stronger on a per mg basis then standard codeine, but I am really curious about the qualitative differences between the two. |

Most rxed codeine in England is dihydrocodeine (df 118's) 10 30mg tabs are enough to stop wds from a heavy habit,

it's ok, but pretty crappy compared to a real opi like morphine or oxycodone for example. It's Mickey Mouse, so expect a Mickey Mouse buzz.
better thatn codeine a little though, but then again, what isn't? |

Unfortunately I dont really have a hook up in this area yet, so I have to make do with what I can get online (and i refuse to spend $1/mg for my domestic oxy email source). That and the hospital hookup that occasionally has a little morph or dillaudid to toss my way. |

I was pleasantly surprised actually. I have a pretty decent opiate (pill) tolerance & took one of those one day & it packed a decent punch. (buzz) it was a 60mg one. I have a few stashed back for emergency in case I were to totally run out of meds I think they would def help with w/d's. So it' was a nice feeling but also wore off rather quickly (maybe lasted an hour?) I have never tried more than one at a time though & I am sure I had other meds in my system FWIW.
hope they help you! BQ |

well being someone who regularly gobbles hydro & sometimes Percocets like candy & takes OC's regularly now for a few months the fact that I "felt" it at all is a miracle to me
& a pleasant one at that! LOL regular codeine I do not even feel. not even the perduretas. this I found to be way different. I am not at all educated in dosage comparisons etc.it's def "different" than hydro though from my experience. almost more like heroin if you will but much short er acting. at least that is how it was for me I am sure everyone is different! it came on with a bang & was pleasant (not noddy though but that's fine with me as I have to be alert during the day) but sadly wore off just as quickly. I have yet to try more than one or to follow it with another to see if it will continue longer. I almost think that only ever using it rarely may preserve that effect for me (or wishful thinking who knows ) either way be sure & report back how it works for you ok & good luck! xo BQ |

Although DHC is said to be about twice as potent as codeine, in my experience it feels weaker. That's in terms of buzz rather than in terms of analgesia. And I found the buzz - what there was of it - to be a 'dirty', head one, rather than the pleasant tingling of codeine.
Needless to say I didn't repeat the exercise more than once. Doc |

Sadly not DHC(although, there's a lot of rxed DF 118's around)We can occasionaly still get codeine linctus (300 mg's codeine a 100ml bottle).
The good doc is spot on-only use DHC for wds-it's not a "nice" buzz.

Actually Nick, you can buy DHC over the counter - in combination with paracetamol (tylenol) in the form of Paramol caplets at 7.5mg DHC/500mg paracetamol. I've known a couple of people regularly do CWEs on these and get very happy as a result, though when I tried the same I just felt a bit spaced and 'mucky'.

Usefull in wd though. Doc,have you tried the time release DF's(I think they're called DF continuous? or co codamol? Worth checking if codeine floats your boat.

No I haven't Nick, and alas, it's been about four years since codeine floated any part of me! Mind you, when I kicked off my opiate career about seven years ago, it was codeine that did it; I got higher and happier on that stuff as an opie-virgin than I've ever managed since on far stronger substances. Shame you can never regain that first-time experience, eh? Doc |
