Codeine w/ Promethazine Syrup

I got a big 12oz bottle of Codeine/Promethazine w/ about 10 oz left in it. The directions say to take 1 or 2 teaspoons every 4 to 6 hours as needed, and it say qty 360. Any one know how much codeine and promethazine might be in this? It doesnt say on the label, which is strange. It is a prescription drug from a real brick and mortar pharmacy in the us of a. I dont plan to get high on it but it would be nice for WD.

...how long have you had this? (I'm asking because I'm looking at http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/drugsatfda/index.cfm?fuseaction=Search.DrugDetails and it's coming up as discontinued, though that may just be that particular brand....anyway.)

10 mg codeine and 6.25mg prometh. per 5ml dose, so...you've got a 360ml bottle, that's 72 doses, that comes to 720mg codeine and 450mg promethazine for the bottle, if I'm calculating correctly. If you've got about 10 oz left...hmmm, 300ml, so you've got about 600mg codeine and 375mg promethazine there.

Does that help at all?

I took a lot of this stuff when I was a kid and had bronchitis or something, and I've got a 15+yo bottle of it in the cabinet right now Wouldn't dream of taking it--God only knows what happens to the codeine as it ages--but somehow I feel better for having it around.

I'll add this, now that I've thought about it: taking promethazine in any form has always made me have a little trouble breathing, so if you're thinking of using this stuff for WD and you have lung problems or sleep apnea, be careful. Getting a syrup that's codeine with guaifenesin might be a better option.

Promethazine is good stuff for WD; 100 mgs. of it will help greatly for sleep.

Yeah I'd definately save it for wd's. Way too much prometh compared to codeine to go drinking it all. I sure wish I had some of that lying around on friday night!
