Nasal wash works great for you sniffers!

For all of you who's preferred ROA is nasally, you should definitely invest $10 and get you a little nasal washing "tea pot". You can get them at any drug store. They come with little packs of stuff to mix with water in a little tea pot looking rig. SWIM blows about 60mg/day of oxy and does this wash every day. I can tell you that it isnt uncomfortable at all and seems to make the effects of the drug much better. Plus, it cleans all those nasty fillers out of there. SWIM started this about six months ago due to getting sinus headaches alot. It not only got rid of his headaches, but made his pill blowing ritual much much more enjoyable! Swim's general practitioner doc says this is a great thing to do anyways as it also helps prevent illnesses too! Im a noob on the site and just wanted to share this little bit of info with you all. It makes a big difference and hopefully you will try it if you havent already!

I've done the same thing with an Afrin nasal spray bottle and my subs. I haven't done regular opiates in quite some time but I'd love to try exactly what you're saying. The part that blows my mind is that your doc is on board. I don't think I've ever heard of an MD advocating sniffing anything besides fresh air. Are you from the United States... I can't help but ask?

have you compared the effectivelness of the tea pot to the effectiveness of the saline solution nasal spray, commonly branded as "Ayr"?

I just use the saline spray, it is dirt cheap and the pharmacy that I shop at didn't have the tea pots. Honestly I haven't noticed much improvement from the spray -- but that's not necesarily b/c of the spray itself, as I have VERY VERY few negative side-effects from snorting pills every of my life...usually the big Purdue ones.

I have never gotten a sinus head ache, I have never had any sort of nasal congestion from it, and have never had a bloody or sore nose. Purdue is looking out for us!

EDIT : It's great to have another snorter on board here! I feel like we are underrepresented around here amongst all of the shooters and smokers! We've got to stick together to preserve the intranasal route of administration for years to come!

I've been wanting to get one of those Netti-pots or whatever the hell they're called. I am with u guys ... im a chronic snorter. Snorty ocs roxi subs H...sometimes even xanax. I never ever get sinus infections or sores/bloody noses either.


But i think i'll invest in one of those they sound like what i was lookin at the other day at the grocery store. What do ya do...do it like in the morning or several times a day?

Neti pots are great. I don't snort but I do have sinus problems. I haven't had a sinus infection since I started using one. That was about two years ago. A very simple concept with amazing results.

I think what he meant (and correct me if I'm wrong U4ICI), is that his Dr. likes the idea of him using a Neti pot, and not actually snorting pills.

And as compared to Afrin, or some spray like that, a neti pot has a completely different type of clearing out action than a spray..

I'm a snorter too. I occasionally shoot H, but I never became a full-time shooter. I don't know why this is, but besides the initial rush, I've never felt like I get any higher shooting dope than snorting it. I've been told I'm crazy for this, and wasting my dope, and I don't know of anybody else who started shooting dope and went back to snorting it. But, I really don't feel any higher from shooting an equal amount of H. In fact, snorting it, the effects actually seem to last longer. So... why bother. Hydromorphone is a different story, and if I ever get any oxymorphone I have to shoot that too, because snorting 'morphones does seem to be considerably weaker than shooting. (even after the initial rush)

I've never had any problems with my nose. I doubt I'd ever buy a Netti pot, just wanted to let you guys know I'm a fellow sniffer.

We have a Netti Pot, or the Netti spray bottle rather. It works well when I have the energy to use it. When I use it for my subs, I notice that I get less of a drip effect, or no drip at all...meaning that all of the drug is being absorbed in my nasal instead of dripping down the back of my throat. So awesome. Plus it definitely adds to the ritual of it all. But I gotta ask..when are people gonna realize that the best ROA for Oxy is most definitely oral? Ah well, at least you're not smoking! Yucky!

Yes this is definitely what I meant to say. Of course I would never tell my pain management doc that I am blowin the roxis. My regular family doc is the one that suggested I use the pot for sinus problems. I didnt tell him what the sinus problems were from. The directions say to use it as often as twice a day, but I usually use it once a day right before one of my sessions. It's like using KY before sex, gets everything moistened up and ready for lift off. I find that using the tea pot right before a session not only cleans out the old gunk up in there, but more importantly moistens the membranes and makes the powder adhere better up in there. Also, I use warm water as it seems to get the blood flowing up in there and makes for better bloodstream absorbtion.

I understand that using these sorts of products negates some of the risks of chronic tooting, but have always wondered what effect they would have on absorption when used before your DOC.
Because they are saline, it seems like they would, while clearing out whatever is in your nose that might get in the way, dry out your nasal cavities. obviously the former would have a positive effect upon absorption, the latter a negative. I have always wondered which effect would have a larger impact on bioavailability.

would the actual salt residue have any effect?
(if pH or the like matters for this, let's assume one is putting [Malli] Hydromorphone up the nose)

I have been wondering these things for quite a while. I go back and forth between using the Neilmed Sinus rinse (essentially a Neti pot) and not.

If anyone has some knowledge of chemistry and can help with part 2 of my question, it would be much appreciated. besides that, any knowledge, anecdotal or otherwise would help me answer a question I've been scratching my head over for quite some time...

I cant speak on the chemical interaction between the saline solution in the neti pot as far as nasal bioavailability goes. All I can speak from is the personal experience I have with using the neti pot. It has made a positive difference in every aspect of it's administration whether that be med usage or overall wellness.

fellow snorter here too people! i snorted everything: OCs, roxies, opana, dilaudid, H, morphine, methadone, every once in a while i snort my subs but im trying to really do it the right way so most of the time i take em the normal way (BY THE WAY, YESTERDAY WAS 5 MONTHS CLEAN & ON SUBS AND IT HAS BEEN AMAZING), fuck i was even dumb enough in my early opie days to snort percs & vikes (dont worry i got wise very quickly and whenever all i had were percs or vikes i would just munch em up).

but on occassion i have had a sore nose, or sore throat from snorting, a sinus headache, a bloody nose, but im talkin like once a month i would have just 1 of these symptoms. one thing thta i always got from snorting, is when w/d would just be starting up, i would get the most horrific sinus headache, like on the first day of w/d, it would let me know that w/d was on the way and i would start buggin out, and i always contributed the sinus headache to the fact that im a snorter. i wonder if anyone else experiences the sinus headache at the onset of w/d cuz they are a snorter...........

I always noticed that when I had to go without the roxis is when my headaches and stuffy simuses would go away. I never had a sore or bloody nose, but I do get stuffed up. Even if I didnt use the roxis, I would still use the tea pot every day. It makes you feel alot better all around and has some kinda weird holistic ritualistic psuedo shaman feel to it almost like an addiction...... OK maybe im just nutty.
