Ok so i get a monthy script of 90 40mg Oxycontin and 180 15mg Oxycodone IR (generic for Roxicodone i believe) and i am somewhat conflicted as to what manufacturers to go with when i get them filled.
BTW SWIM only consumes by crushing the pills and parachuting them. Snorting them does nothing for me. I've gotten conflicting information as to if generic Oxycontin are currently available and since my insurance doesnt cover them I'm always looking for the best price. Walgreens is $675 which is way outside my budget but ive found a little Ma&Pa about two hours drive from my house that will do them for $525. If there are generics available i'm concerned with the quality of the medicine. I've read some pretty bad stories on this board regarding getting generic oc's and them being terrible. Is this still the case? As far as the Oxycodone IR's, i recieved my first script of them last month and they were manufactured by Qualitest and IMO they were awful! I would have to take 4 15s to get the same feeling SWIM gets from the 30s SWIM gets off the street. There must be a better manufacturer of IR's then those Qualitest. Can anyone give any suggestions? TL;DR Generic Oxycontin - Available? Worth the price break? Best Mfg? Oxycodone IR - Best Mfg? Any input is much appreciated! ![]()

I believe in another post in this section someone had pointed out that, the ethex generics had a short term limited deal with Purdue to "produce" a generic version of oxycontin. however from what i've read Ethex did not actually press the meds themselves and that purdue was giving them there brand name OC. people had asked why they recieved brand oc under ethex generics that is why. the deal was very limited i think possibly ending this month but hey maybe look into it maybe your can score some while they are in stock as genrics.
- research it first def don't take my word for it i may have a detail wrong ![]() |

here's a sticky thread from this forum that lists all the generics (and brand) formulations of oxy:
http://forum.opiophile.org/showthread.php?t=12631 i believe that all the generics of OC have been discontinued. as for the roxies, everyone's preference is different, but most seem to like the mallies or the amide/actavis generics. otherwise, be careful about giving TMI about just how much you get every month, as it could either be construed as a hint that you wanna sell some (definitely not allowed here!), or you could be opening yourself up to some people who might try to scam you out of them.

have you ever considered switching meds. there are cheaper pain killers that could be just as effective. I've read that morphine and methadone are both very cheap, for example. and I'm sure your doctor would understand if you just explain the situation. but I really don't know if thats an option, not knowing your situation just throwing in my 2 cents

![]() Seriously, be careful about that stuff. I wouldn't want to see anyone (except for me) hassling you for your pills.

Currently, I believe Mallinckrodt is still producing generic OC (in the original strengths, 10, 20, 40, 80). There's a lot of opinions on them, mine is that they simply don't work as well as the Purdues. I used the generics for a month and they seemed to take longer to kick in, and didn't last as long.
If you like to take them "not" as directed and crush them up to get the oxy all at once, you'll be sorely disappointed as they have an awful gelling mechanism that is near impossible to get around. To add insult to injury, they really aren't that much cheaper. If your insurance covers generic but not brand, then you'll of course save a lot of money, in my case (at the time) I had no insurnace and there was only like a $1/pill diference and at $625/month, that $90-$100 isn't worth the headache. As far as the IR's, I've found that the Amide seems to be the best manufacturer (of the 15mg at least). Mallinkrodt pulls a close second IMO. Qualitest aren't the best, but that's usually what I get as I'm contracted to use the same pharmacy with every fill and haven't really had a problem with them. I think those are the only companies producing them at the moment. |

I'll see if I can dig up the article, but Purdue sued and was able to take generic Oxycontin off the store shelves for a while, but I saw a press release a few months back stating that this will only last up until the start of 2010. Jan 2010 should see the re-emergence of generic Oxycontins.
I assume your just asking about generic Oxycontin, and not the 15mg roxys right? the IR 15mg's have tons of generics and in my opinion they are all the same no one is better. Oxycontin I haven't fucked aroudn with the generics enough to know which is better, all I know is some of them have abuse-prevention thigns in them so they gel up when you try to shoot them or even snort them, but if your taking them as prescribed this shouldn't be an issue. |
