k, im all 'clean,' right?
2 months since last suboxone even. still have junkie gut some mornings but overall feeling ok even without dxms!!! so dentist has to extract 2 'teeth' one is just root the other is almost as bad had to hack my gums to bits and remove some bone to get all the pieces out. FUCKING HURTS BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! dentist knows me drug abuse history kinda. commented on me 'big lungs' hitting the no2 tank and could tell from my teeth and gums i was a doper. so he sez "well coulda given you morphine but since you have that drug thing im onl writing for ultram!' so, because i might admit enjoying and have more tolerance i deserve inadequate pain meds?!?! jaw SWOLLEN i grind due to anxiety and manic me. been eating these fucking 'trammies' for two days. question: will rebound w/d from short term tramadol use be a problem considering my histori and stage of 'clean?' always had REAL drugs b4, fuck trammies and dentists...

I wouldn't think so, man. Especially since you've been clean for 2 months.
You say you have junky gut, huh?-well you might have a more uncormfortable stomach when you stop, but it shouldn't be bad. I think you're good bro. And conratulations on the clean time (from the dxm too ), quite an accomplishment.

Thanat0s...
I feel so dam bad for you! Thats bullshit that u were made to suffer thru this ordeal just because of ur past! IMO they should have given u a 2 day supply of something that really works for pain, and then u could've given them to someone u trust and at least been comfortable! Anyways.... fuckin dentists.... Well i wouldnt worry about the trammies. I think u'll be A.ok!! Taper down a bit if u r worried, and just go and get a couple boxes to have on hand for the junkie gut. Do u know what the hell causes junkie gut...cuz i ALWAYS have this. If im on subs or GOD forbid...on nothing...i cant eat or keep food in me, constantly have the runs and that horrible pain in center of my gut that forces my to hang on my stomache and walk all hunched over! I find that immodium WILL work, but do u have any other secret remedies??? Well kudos to you! Good job at NOT going and getting better drugs for the extractions. U r alot stronger than ur giving urself credit for... Nothing worse than an unsympathetic dentist. WHAT~ just because we're junkies we're not allowed to have adequate pain control? BULLSHIT!!! It really, really is! Hope this Saturday finds u in a better way.... Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight! OQ |

Some people you can tell the truth to and they'll appreciate it.
Some people will punish you for it, as if they're God's own lil' avenging ANgel, (self-appointed). Doctors/Dentists are people, often crappy people, probably best to lie to them, except in extreme circumstances. M F

That could be from the amount of pain you are in, making you feel hot. Or the alcohol

My guess is since you've been clean for 2 months, and since Ultram is only a partial-agonist, that you'll mostly likely be fine when the script runs out. I think it might make your GI problems a little worse, or the same, because you are putting a partial agonist back in there, especially since you're still having problem with it.
As far as craving / relapsing. I doubt you'll get much out of Ultram, even after two months of being clean of "harder" opiates. Ultram, IMO, isn't that great. It's even worse than Sub IMO for giving any pleasure / high. Some people seem to love them though. They do serve a purpose for when you're out and need something to keep w/d at bay though. Anyway....I think you'll be fine, and if you do feel anything, it will be psychological rather than physical. I doubt the doctor, seeing how his attitude was, gave you a large script anyway. As for the dentist, FUCK HIM! He could have given you at least Tylenol # 3 or even 5mg Lortabs / Vics. I mean, Ultram for bone pain? That's fucked up, especially since you were honest. I mean, think about it, if you were trying to score drugs, would you be honest with a doctor about your past? Um, no. I wouldn't. The only reason for being honest is because you want adequate care. Fuck him, and his policies. They're fucked up. Could you have a family member / close, non-using friend hold "better" pain meds and dispense them to you. That helps a lot to persuade a doctor.

Srsly- He should have just knock your ass out for that kind of dental procedure
maybe try an Oral surgeon, they will put you under for procedure anyways- don't thinkTrammies will be an issue for you. It can fuck with serotoin levels a bit maybe taper the last couple days. I had a year clean time a while back, had pain issues -went to doc got a script for 100's of trams I used them- -- I abused the fuck out of them NEVER felt anything--never bother to refill trammies work for some I guess they are addicting, can (rarely) cause seizures yet most drs. hand out like candy-- go figure Hey Ice packs , an anti-inflammatory really do work wonders and helps the healing process good luck me man |

Oh how I HATE dentist so much. I need to go to one soon and have one pulled but I have been procrastinating on it.
I never tell the dentist what I am on unless it's going to be a major procedure but for pulling a tooth it's not worth the risk of them judging me the wrong way. I always have to take Ibuprofen during toothaches because the opiates don't always help. After my first time having a tooth pulled they told me on the second day rinse with warm salt water. That's shitty he gave you tramadol. I think he could have at least given you some loratabs so you don't suffer the first few days. Hope you feel better soon.

With dental procedures, inflammation is a big problem and will cause a great deal of pain.
Taking anti-inflammatories such as Motrin or Ibuprofen will work wonders as GnD pointed out and will help decrease your pain and swelling. I just went through some dental work and got only Motrin for the pain. I thought for sure it would not cut the pain, but it did. To the Op: "Did you get any antibiotics at all from your dentist?" I am curious. Infection can cause great amounts of pain as well. Because of the way teeth are structured, white blood cells can not easily get to the site of infection or kill off bacteria left behind. This can lead to infection and that will lead to a lot of pain. Take them if he did prescribe them and sorry you had to endure so much.

Yeah you got a pretty shitty deal there regardless of your history.
Like candy said take the antibiotics which they hopefully gave you as it is customary cause the mouth is so dirty and dental extractions wanna heal over before under.when you rinse dont swish hard like a gargle just gentle head side to side tilt cause you dont want to dislodge the blood clot that will form as protection for the extraction site.keep an icebag on it to help with the swelling too. If you develop further issues pain greater after 2-3 days, throbbing, swelling, fever(either high or really low-dont know what you usually run)call them and let them know. My son had his wisdom teeth out and he complained after like 4 days that it didnt feel like there was any impovement and it throbbed at the extraction site and lower jaw(he was on percs)I called the dentist and they had me bring him in and he had developed an infection while on antis and following all their instructions. they rinsed that socket out with a curved syringe full of a listerine mixture and flushed so much pus, blood & shit outta there that I about freaked..he couldnt even stand for the dentist to pull his cheek out from his teeth so I knew there was something going on.He said it felt better before we were even in the parking lot so I guess the infection was jus putting pressure on it. I hope it heals quickly without incident and no issues.

Another thing you might need to worry about is dry socket / dry rot. It's basically caused right after dental procedures before they put the filling in or if they take a tooth out and there's just a new hole there, and it's caused by smoking, sucking through a straw to drink with, and other things.
It's supposed to be very very painful, so if you've got a hole in some of your teeth spaces, and your dentist didn't tell you not smoke or use a straw to drink with, DO NOT. Hopefully he told you that though, although from your description of him, it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't. But yeah, if you get dry socket / rot, it will definitely make the pain worse. Also, Candy mentioned some great things: did you get anti-biotics too? DEFINITELY take them, because you don't want your areas / mouth to get infected. The mouth is full of all kinds of bacteria. You NEED to take ALL of them. In other words, finish the anti-biotic script until it's gone, even if you feel better halfway through. That's how people get resistant to anti-biotics / they stop working and super bugs like MRSA are created.

Every time you brush your teeth, you will get a transient bacteremia (bacteria from your mouth get into your bloodstream).
Serious dental work will increase this effect. Unless you're immunocompromised, your body should be able to handle it. But, if your heart starts feeling strange, go to your doctor, 'cause some infections that affect the heart start from mouth-borne bacteria. True-dat, yo, ![]() M F How Does Bacteremia Occur? Bacteremia occurs as part of our daily living when bacteria that normally live on the skin, the lining of the mouth, or the lining of the intestinal tract enter the bloodstream through small cuts, abrasions, or breakdowns. Bacteria can enter the bloodstream as a result of minor trauma during typical daily activities such as brushing teeth or chewing. Thus, the mouth is a common source of bacteremia, and good oral hygiene appears to lower the risk of bacteremia and subsequent endocarditis. Certain invasive medical procedures are also known to cause bacteremia, particularly if they injure sites where bacteria are normally found. For people with heart conditions that are associated with endocarditis, it has been recommended that antibiotics be given before these procedures in an effort to limit bacteremia, to prevent bacteria from sticking to the heart, and to protect against endocarditis.3 As discussed below, however, this common practice is controversial.
