Copping Poll...

This poll is for those who have copped drugs in open air markets. I don't mean like getting a little bud from a hippie at a FurtherFest or some dude in the park..... But for those who have routinely gone to the "hood" in a bigger city where there is an obvious open air market and bought smack, crack, black, bundles, stamp bags, balloons of black or white.... you get the picture.... in the inner city or such....

Have you ever been arrested or busted while copping, or when you were obviously leaving "the spot"?

If not, please say, but if so, please tell a little. For instance, do you fit in where you were (preppy white prettyboy or girl in Newark, or do you look like a local?); what were the indications something went bad (bad gut feeling ignored, etc...); do you look the part of a junkie even if you do fit in; or anything else that seems like it relates?

Just curious... It would be kind of cool to get a rough ratio of how many people cop regularly and have been lucky/skillful/smart about it/etc. vs. how many do so and have been pinched for being unlucky/stupid/inevitable/etc....

I have spent a lot of time copping in high-risk situations and really bad areas. I luckily was never caught when I was still doing that shit.

my exprience with open air markets was in the boynton beach area after getting out of rehab. down the strip from the halfway house was plentiful group of brothers getting rid of hard. unfortunately no scag.

the first couple of times my roommate and I copped from these dudes it was a little sketchy. we were two white dudes in the ghetto obviously looking for shit. catching the dude's attention wasn't hard and the exchange took place behind a building. the first time we went my buddy got talked into trading his flashy belt buckle for a 40 of rock. desperate white guys.

I'd say I copped from these dudes 10-15 times while staying in the area. once dudes knew us it was alot more smooth. never got busted but the area was always hot. the spot was right off the strip and it was obvious what was going down. I hate fucking with open air markets. my 2 cents.

Been busted many times in open air markets.. But because drug use is not a crime in this country i NEVER LOST THE DRUGS due to being busted, i managed to keep the drugs all the times..

But its not all fun, cops have kicked my ass 3 times.. but no drugs were lost...

I have never been busted coppin on the street, I have been stopped a few times on my way to cop and on one occasion I was stop searched and harrassed while waiting for my dealer to come back out of the apartment where they deal. My friend made the mistake of telling an undercover we werethere to cop.

In michigan, always gone to SW Detroit or Ypsilanti. East side and Highland park freak me out too much so I never venture there without knowing where/what I'm doing.

Just go in dressed usually in work clothes and start a conversation with someone (you got a smoke?). You just kind of know whos doing what. Also prefer to park and then walk so you don't look too obvious and they don't take you for too much of a ride. Women seem to be better than men about not burning you. Always try to sample it there so they don't give you BS and so you don't look too much like a cop. Try not to talk too much either. Just overall be smart. Take mace because if you pull a knife you have to use it. Get collateral from them if they need to take money into the house (cell phone, I even had a pair of teeth before, lol). Make it worth while for them too, buy them a pack or rock. Always found going alone during the day to be best.

Forgot, I've never been busted doing this, but have come VERY close. Try to get numbers ASAP so you don't have to go through this. It's a HUGE fucking hassle.

when i got popped for possession, it was later,
after 100+ dollars worth of cocaine and heroin already entered my veins

What about the choice for I've never really done that but maybe on a few, rare, desperate occasions. More often than not I got scammed or really crappy stuff. There was one time the dude did do right by me but I was never able to find 'em again.

I hear ya... I guess what I had in mind when I thought this silly thing up was just to get an idea of how many people who do this all the time (yeah, I know, that is a really subjective term...) end up getting in trouble over it.

I think that unless you are just an unlucky poor bastard, most people can get away with it once or twice. Or even a few times....

Just trying to see when most people's luck runs out.


But I think your experience will mirror a lot of people's.... I know, especially at first, mine did. Shit, even with practice it may happen once in a while.

As you do it more, I think you get better at not getting burnt. But on the flipside, your chances of coming into contact with LE goes up. I would rather get ripped the fuck off than thrown the fuck in jail.

Having both happen at the same outing would really be the shits.

I've frequently copped from open air markets local to me in the past, but really haven't copped in open air markets that often recently. Copping in Camden was quite sketchy, but most of the spots I've been to in Atlantic City and Pleasentville really weren't "that" bad. Luckily, I've never had a drug possession charge, and I hope I never receive one. Only time I even consider copping from the local open air markets are when I'm really sick, and my usual people can't come through, which as of now, is pretty much never (knock on wood).

Every time I went into those areas, I tried to "blend" as best as possible, get in and get out as quickly as possible, not to mention scouting out the area before hand for any stick up kids, or cops. Also, I'd try to cop on foot when possible, never carry large amounts of cash, and always keep the dope handy in case of emergency, where I could ditch/swallow/destroy the evidence if needed.

NYC back in the big open air market days of the late 80s - early 90s.

I had just copped a few bags from a spot in the E. Village. I got about 10 steps away and a cop jumped out of the back of a taxi and threw me to the ground. All sorts of cops came from out of nowhere and swarmed the whole spot.

I got arrested and charged with possession.

My hood man born and raised.....though not everyone is black most are depending on what part you are talking about in East boynton(Most are haitian now) it is sectional by even a single street. If Im thinking right you might be on the more major road and thats why you had shitty luck, there is a street in boynton that average folk don't roll down but is still a 4 lane road that has much more foot traffic. I only encountered H once in my years of hustle there...Shelly Im sure you couldnt believe this...but the soft white is plenty and boy does it cook nicely.

I never copped on the street always had cell connects in the hood but wasn't really a user of my shit. Though being white in a majority black area I always had problems(even though I knew nearly every cop), especially since I didnt have Palm Beach County tags, I used a friends address in St. Lucie since insurance in boynton is like second or third highest in the state. Regardless the type of car you drive, your tags, skin color, clothes, slang tell alot about you. How you think a white boy survives in the hood! Adapt to your surroundings, chameleon and shit.
