Default Modern retail sale paregoric bottle

I thought someone might be interested in this pic, the camera is horrible sorry. I know there are plenty of antique paregoric bottle pics online but no modern ones besides the RX pint size bottle. This bottle even has a barcode and its on the shelf like all other OTC meds.

When you convert the price to USD its around$1.50

But... are the ingredients the same as in the "olden days"? By your name, I assume you are an expert in all things paregoric, which is great. SO what IS contained in paregoric syrup these days/sorry if it's a dumb question and I'm the only one who doesn't know or, "get it". Yes I could google or search the board but I'd rather bother you,

Sue

Yes its exactly the same, its not a syrup its more like vodka with a pinch of opium and anise and camphor flavor. I think the ingredients are supposed to be water, ethanol, opium, glycerin, camphor, anise oil. To the uninitiated it tastes HORRIBLE, but you get used to it.

Honestly I don't know how the company that makes it gets away with not listing ingredients or dosing info besides "keep out of reach of children". My guess is it was grandfathered in or something, the same company sells other old fashioned pharmaceuticals like tinctures and stuff with names like "Hoffman's anodyne".

If you could buy that here, we would be drinking "paregoric shooters". Kind of like the old Tussionex Shooters my friends would make. 4 teaspoons Tussionex cough syrup topped off with vodka. (4 teaspoons Tussionex Syrup = 40 mg. hydrocodone).

Until they find the cure, there's Tussionex!

how much do you drink to stave off withdrawals?
what is the high equivalent to?
with the high alcohol content do you get sick before you get "well"
one more question....
what process must you undergo to purchase a bottle?

You can do straight shooters, but its not pleasant. The only way to consume it(as I do)is to mix it to a ratio of 1:10 with cola. It honesly doesn't taste half bad.

That depends on your tolerance, the high is most like pod tea or seed tea. Nah the alcohol content doesn't really matter, I think its 40 proof. And unless you're consuming real big amounts its not gonna matter, if your tolerance is that high you're probably better off with something else anyway.

Well if its a old style pharmacy where there is just a counter you have to ask one of the clerks to give you how many bottles of paregoric you want and they carry them to the cashier who rings you up and you pay. If its one of the new style pharmacy chains that are copying places like Walgreens you just go pick it up off the shelf take it to the register and pay.
