Have any of you guys tried this benzo?
I've seen reports of it over at bluelight, but I'd really like to hear the opinions of some opiophiles on this drug. Phenazepam interests me because of its chemical similarity to my ALL TIME FAVORITE benzodiazepine: bromazepam. bromazepam phenazepam The differences are: 1)the oddest part of bromazepam's structure... the nitrogen containing pyridine ring ... is replaced with the more typical phenyl ring in phenazepam. Note that in bromazepam, the nitrogen atom in the pyridine ring is located at the position where electron attracting substituants like halogens would typically be added to more normal benzos that have the phenyl ring. Since the region near the N atom in a pyridine ring is electron rich, it should certainly enhance activity in a similar way; this is likely what gives bromazepam its greater potency than diazepam, despite having only a secondary amide (diazepam has a tertiary amide). Of course the Nitrogen atom is actually IN the aromatic pyridine ring in bromazepams case, while in phenazepam's case the chlorine is bonded to, but outside of, the aromatic phenyl ring system -- just wanted to make it clear about that important difference so people don't think a halogen can be made part of an aromatic ring :P -- however, as far as the GABA-A-BZD receptors are concerned, a similar thing is going on there. The N and the Cl both have a localized area around them that is more negatively charged; this is a known GABA-A-BZD receptor affinity enhancer. 2)the 2' carbon position on the phenyl ring (the same spot where the 2' nitrogen is in the pyridine ring of bromazepam) is substituted with a chlorine atom. this electron attracting group enhances potency greatly. I believe phenazepam is equipotent with lorazepam, but I'm not positive about that. [[Edit: Some other info seems to suggest that it's stronger than that and equipotent with clonazepam]] That would make it more potent than bromazepam. I also believe it's usually used for anxiety and not insomnia, like bromazepam, clonazepam, and diazepam. This phenazepam looks to be a stronger cousin to my most beloved benzo: bromazepam. Phenazepam is certainly the closest relative of bromazepam in clinical use. It's used in Russia for anxiety, and i know it can be had from vendors online. At some point, I'll have to try it. For now, I'm wondering if anyone here has actually got to try it and can give me some info on how the experience was... alone and in combination with opioids.

Man I've read a bunch of your posts. What are you like a chemist or something? You have some serious knowledge about drugs. I Haven't even heard about half the stuff you talk about. It's good to have people with some intelligence and insight on this forum, I learn something new every time I log on. Keep it up!

I did not see any other threads dedicated to this medicine. Has any further research be conducted with it that would provide a better view into its efficacy as a recreational benzo? Its quite cheap from what i have seen online.

Res- I think it's so cool that you are interested and so knowledgable about the chemistry makeup of meds that interest you. I seriously cried my whole semester throuh bio-chem. Props to anyone who can and does understand chemistry and can relate it back to a chemistry limited brain like mine!! What is your major? Do you think if you became a pharmacist you'd be a total junky? I really am impressed by your knowledge, chemistry is like a complete different language.
I've been wanting to tell you this for awhile. You seem bright, continue your education!!! ![]() edit: I always want to jump into your threads but I feel too stupid on the subject to contrubute. and yes,I went to nursing school and had to take chem, anatomy, physiology etc...hated 'em all but chem was by far my worst subject.
