Default Codeine Vs Hydro

Has anyone ever heard of someone who preferrred a codeine buzz to hydro. I am not a lightwieght. I have been doing opiates for 20 years. Iused to like Hdro better but lately I get more of a buzz from T3s than norcos. Can you buiild up a tolerance to one opiate and not another? I did not think so but It is happening to me. This is not a joke! Isnt codiene metabolized into morphine by an enzyme in your liver. Maybe i am producing more of this enzyme.

sure nothin wrong w/ liking codeine better!

and yes, codeine is converted to morphine in ur liver be4 the body can use it

hydrocodone is converted to its respective active metabolites

codeine is also a pure opioid in the sense that it is straight from the poppy plant unadulterated, while hydrocodone is a "semi-synthetic" because it can be made from codeine, but does not exist naturally in the poppy plant.

hope that helps

I think it's possible. I've had weaker opiates give me a bigger buzz than my doc.

I think it has a lot to do with your body chemistry and maybe personal preference changes. I used to buy from a guy where I pretty much had a choice of ocs vs. morphine. I used to love ocs, but then one day, it just didn't feel as good as the morphine and I wasn't getting as high from it. Now, I prefer morphine, but also have a pod tea habit so maybe that has something to do with it. I think your body does build of tolerance to synthetics a little differently.

I guess it's possible. I can see how massive quantities of codeine would be better than a moderate quantity of hydro because, like people said, it's converted to morphine, and morphine is definitely better than hydro. Although, I think I read on Wikipedia that something like 10% of the hydrocodone is converted to hydromorphone in your body, so maybe that's why I prefer it over codeine. In all honesty, I used to love hydro when I first started. I'd take 40mg and nod and float on my dorm room bed while listening to music. Now, it's only good for getting me out of w/d. It doesn't get me high whatsoever. Plus, I used to find it very sedating when I first started taking it years ago, now it's more stimulating. It's weird how you react differently to drugs over time, and I'm not just talking about tolerance.

I can believe it, sure... Everybody's different.

But I'm curious what dosages you're comparing of each? I've always considered 10mg of
hydro to be equivalent to about 60-90mg of codeine.

I know a guy that prefers his codeine pills over his percs, so ya I could see that. Morphine's the best shit out there.

ill take codeine over hydro all day. I thinks its from years of heavy abuse of hydro and not much codeine. Ive taken both in the same week recently and got a pleasant buzz from the codeine and nothing from the hydro.

PS does anyone know the shelf life of codeine i have some from 03'

Shelf life varies, heat and light are the main things that cause it to degrade, but at very worst it's MAYBE 25% less potent. It's still good.

^^ I had some codiene that I pilfered one time that was form 1984. The pills had gone all yellow so I didn't think they'd work too well. I took 7 (x 30mg) which left me 13 (it was a script for 20, for constipation, none taken!). To my surprise they hadn't degraded at all! I got a full on itch and a weak but percievable buzz. Can't expect much more from codiene!

^^^^^^^ That's interesting. Why would a doctor prescribe codeine (or any opiate) for constipation? Oh, do you mean they were prescribed to make a person constipated, like if they had really bad diarreah? That's probably it. I thought you meant the doctor prescribed them for pain from constipation, and I was thinking that would be really strange because opiates cause constipation.

I never have particularly cared for codeine, esp. IV. That will cause some horrible welts that will drive you nuts.

Um....do NOT iv codeine, consider yourself lucky...iv codeine is a no no. If you have codeine pills they are best orally. Ampoules of codeine are intended for im/sc, iv codeine can be fatal.

Be careful.
