Default Abnormally nauseous?

First thread start, woo! I couldn't find a similar topic, my apologies if it already exists.

We all know that opioids can cause nausea in some people, especially when smoking or moving. I have quite some experience with different kinds of opioids and I can tell you that 200 mg of codeine takes the cake as to what makes me the most queasy. Even though I take 50 mg of Postafen (an over the counter motion sickness med) some hours before the cod, moving from my bed to the kitchen can be enough to make me see black dots and want to vomit. No other opioid has had me feeling sick to the stomach directly after waking up from a nod in my bed.

Am I really that strange? Can anybody else relate to cod creating an abnormal amount of nausea?

I've have taken small to huge doses of codeine many, many times and have not once experienced even a hint of nausea. Sometimes I get a bit itchy, but I usually take an antihistamine about 30 minutes before a big dose so that's not too much of a worry.

I've experienced pretty bad nausea with poppyseed tea and once when I mixed tramadol and hydrocodone so I'm unfortuntaly not immune to opiate nausea.

I've never done much codeine. Too weak I find.

But when I was on the 'done, every couple of weeks I'd start puking in my trash can at work and have to go home early, trying not to throw up in the back of the cab on the way. The only thing that made it pass was a good long sleep. It was hell. Totally incapacitating. I feel for you-

Generally, once you have a habit the only nausea you get is when you're withdrawing...

Take care,
t

I am a chipper so I have no tolerance at all. I get the itches as well, most people seem to, but it never was a big deal for me. Antihistamines make me even more nauseous so I have learned to cope without them.

I've never got anything from codeine: high, nausea, or itching. Opana, however, will tend to make me nauseous from time to time if I take it on an empty stomach.

Sometimes when I would do CWE on Tylenol 1s (OTC), I get a little nauseous, (never puked, most of the time it just went away) but doses of 300mg+ make me itch like a madman, and I mean that burning itch.

I always get nauseous from codeine as well. (during the day) At night, I wake up with stabbing pains in my stomach. Needless to say, I only take codeine when I can't get ANYTHING else!! (It does help with my w/d, so I'm forced to use it now and then.)

I don't remember codeine making me especially nauseous... but I haven't taken any in a long time.

Tramadol in moderate/large doses does not, but I know people who do get that way.

Vics seemed ok.

The last couple times I did poppy tea I puked for about a day and I have gotten the pukes with morphine and heroin but not that bad.

Is Dramamine an antihistamine? I usually take a Dramamine and Bonine (sp?) both of them for motion sickness and they do seem to help if I take them about an hour before.

Nauseous is very much person to person for sure.

I see you're from Poland... and not sure if you're prescribed the codeine, but have you ever tried phenergan (promethazine)? Not sure if it's easily accessible there...

Since I only use opiates a couple times throughout the year (for pain as needed- my last resort), I am opiate "naive" and get very nauseated. I always take phenergan with any pain meds. Since it's not scheduled or anything, maybe you could ask your doc for it. Mine gives me a prescription every month and it's no big deal. For me it also potentiates and doesn't make me drowsy if taken in combo with opiates.

I've never taken codeine so this may not apply, but I would imagine it's all the same.

Be easy.
