I have been taking Lortab 10/500 for about six months for recurrent kidney stone pain (see other messages I have posted in regards to this medication).

Today, I told my doctor that I was starting to have "breakthrough" pain even after taking the Lortabs. My doctor told me that I was probably developing tolerance (duh!) to the hydrocodone.

Instead of prescribing the Lortab, he wrote me a prescription for Percocet 10/325 mg. I was getting 120 of the 10mg Lortabs (Schedule III), but due to Percocet being a Schedule II narcotic, he would only write me 80 for the month (of course, Schedule II prohibits refills, so I'll have to go into the office once a month for a refill).

How does Percocet (Oxycodone) compare milligram to milligram to Lortab? I can usually take 5 of the 10mg Lortabs. What would the equivalent dose of oxycodone be? Is Oxycodone indeed stronger than hydrocodone? My doctor would always write refills on the hydrocodone, will the difference in the two be worth driving 15 miles for a refill?

It should be -quite- a bit more powerful? I know it's more powerful but not sure how much. I've never had percocet, just oxycontin, and they're certainly quite a bit more powerful than hydros. Maybe someone else can be more exact. But get ready to really rock is all I can say

Well, everybody's different, but I found Oxycodone to be quite a bit more powerful than Hydro on a milligram basis. The best way to find out is to experiment!

Percovet is WAYY stronger than hydrocodone. In all ways. and if I had to rate it in any way(even though you cant even compare the two)
I'd say it takes about 20mg of hydro to equal about 5-10mg of Oxycodone. Hydros plain out suck for helping with pain(other than headaches) but percs can be great...

My experience has been that the oxycodone is 25% or so stronger
than hydro for PAIN. For euphoria, I'd give the nod at equivalent
amounts for both (10mg hydro = 10mg perc) - for EUPHORIA.

I still get more WASTED on perc than hydro. Less euphoria, but you
are nailed to the chair (Xmg oxy >> Xmg hydro for INCAPACITATION).

Been a long time since I've had my hands on any percs.
