Ya, codeine metabolites will show as opiates. And 3 days is the generally accepted rule for short half life opiates.
BTW I just passed a drug test today! That will get the fucken DMV off my back for now, too. I haven't smoked any bud for 40 days in preparation for this test and the little line for THC was just barely visible (no line means positive). I've also been on subutex maintenance to not show up for opiates. I'm gonna celebrate! |

Codeine is converted to morphine in the liver. Morphine is a standard test they do. If you have any codeine left in your system, it will show up as morphine on the drug test.
Three days is usual for it to clear out, or at least be below detectable levels, however there have been instances where it still shows after a lot longer. Generally though, 3-4 days is pretty safe. |

Codeine breaks down into morphine, heroin breaks down into codeine and morphine. The presence of codeine can be the result of either heroin or codeine use. The presence of morphine can be the result of the use of heroin, codeine, or morphine. Thus relative levels of codeine and morphine can help determine their origin. Detection periods in unrine range from 24 to 84 Hrs.
