I just don't like anti-psychotics, and pretty much feel they should be exclusively used for their true intention: psychosis. They can potentially just have a lot of negative side-effects, newer and especially older versions.
I agree with this whole-heartedly. The newer anti-psychotics like Seroquel, Abilify, Zyprexa and Geodon are being prescribed entirely too often. Especially this new trend of prescribing an anti-psychotic paired with an anti-depressant in order to treat depression/bipolar disorder. These drug cocktails cause way too many side effects, and it's hard to tell which one(s) of the drugs are the ones that might actually be working!

I was injected with Geodon once in the hospital for a bout of manic psychosis, and it seemed to work well for its intended purpose-- although I was also being pumped full of Depakote and Ativan, so once again, who knows which one was actually working...
However, it did make my brain feel chock full o' blank [complete dull & listless nothingness]. I can't imagine this would be a desirable state to induce upon someone merely for a sleep disorder or anxiety. :-/

[+ these atypical antipsychotics are RIDICULOUSLY expensive to be taking regularly.]
