Default Massive Pulsating Wood

I was looking up Trazadone and saw that one of the side effects is Priapism where a guy has an erection for hours and can't return to the normal state. Was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this or heard of it happening. We are talking about wood lasting for possibly 24 hours with 33% of cases requiring surgery!

the treatment is a large needle to the pecker to drain the blood before any tissue starts to die

not something i ever want to experience!

Oy, you guys - we see this a lot in the psych hospital where I play nurse. Usual scenario is some pale, sweaty, hunched over scared looking dude comes to the nurses station 3 hours after being given the trazadone - it's what we use as our first line sleeping medicine. When I ask him what's going on his voice cracks and he's usually a little tremulous because priapism HURTS.
It's a medical emergency. We send the poor guys over to the ER at the main hospital to have the needle Actavis mentioned inserted into the poor member and drain the stuck blood.
The scsariest part is if you're too shy/embarassed to go to the doc about it the damage can be permanent and you can kiss your boners goodbye (in a manner of speaking.....)
It's not all that common. I've been working at the funny farm for 18 months now & we've had 3 guys head to the ER.

This is exactly what they do in the ER.
We had to send a guy over to the ER one night after 4 hours of priapism from trazadone.
There are several risks with priapism, the scariest, IMHO, is that once drained the pecker never stiffens again.
That would be a tragedy.
So guys, if this happens, please go to the ER early on after it starts.

All I got was cotton mouth and mildly groggy for an hour or so. Enough of it would help me sleep sometimes. The Doc did warn me about priapism though. BOING-oing-oing-oing!!!

Priapism isn't a urban legend, it's a real and very serious medical condition, that if not treated will result tissue damage so bad that it requires amputation of the penis. Whenever blood flow to an area gets restricted, toxin's build up there, because the blood isn't circulated to the kidneys and liver to get filtered. So if say your leg or arm gets trapped in an accident, and the blood supply gets cut off for a while, then the emergency rescue crew isn't supposed to free the limb, without keeping the area clamped off. Because if they release it the toxins in the pooled blood with circulates to the rest of your body and will kill you. So the limb will have to remain clamped off until you can get taken to hospital to have the limb amputated.

It's a similar situation with priapism, as during an erection the blood supply is cut off, so the penis swells up as the blood can't escape. If the erection stays up for too long, then the tissue gets damaged, and it will need to be amputated. This is why injecting into the penis vein is a very bad idea, because if the vein gets damaged and closes up, then it will induce priapism.

Wikipedia says: "Priapism can also be caused by reactions to medications. The most common medications that cause priapism are intra-cavernous injections for treatment of erectile dysfunction (papaverine, alprostadil)."

As papaverine is an opiate, people using black tar heroin should be aware that injecting BTH into the penis is even more dangerous as it is even more vein damaging then other forms of heroin, and it is more likely to contain papaverine as it isn't as highly refined as other forms of heroin.

WARNING: Do not inject Black Tar Heroin into your penis. Seriously.

Ah Yeah I knew Priapism is for real-
The urban legen reference was in association with the use/abuse of VIAGRA causing Priapism- Don't know if there were actually cases of this. But have heard this quite a few times with Viagra or Viagra/cocaine.
???

Oh, man...hard to get happy after that.

Woody Bear, that post was a rough ride. What a bummer! I knew priapism was very dangerous, but somehow I never connected the dots w/r/t the ultimate consequences.

Decockitation? None for me, thanks...

Yeah, Trazadone fucking sucks. My friend had to get a stent put in his cock to get some blood drained after having a massive, painful erection for 6+ hours that was starting to turn white.

i've been HOPING to find someone suffering this for some time.
i know it's serious business, but i always get a kick out of the warnings at the end of the viagra commercials

as for trazedone, i've never liked the complete zombie feeling it gives you. i don't even care for it as a sleep aid.
