    Default Atractylodes Chinesis root

Last week I was W/Ding from opiate and benzodiazepines and needless to say I couldn't sleep for shit. I went to the local Asian mart and asked if they had any herbal teas for sleep. I wanted something I've never tried because Valerian root and Kava Kava didn't work.

What the woman suggested was Atractylodes Chineis root. The tea smells like rotten ass but that doesn't bother me so I drank it up. It DID NOT help me sleep what-so-ever but it has one very interesting and effective quality.

This stuff slows gut motility just as well as Loperamide if not better. I have A lot of experience with high doses of Loperamide and I use it often when the opiates run out. This root works in exactly the same way as far as I can tell. Unfortunately I didn't notice any CNS effect worth mentioning but for any of you out there who need something to slow down the gut when you're W/Ding give this shit a try.

It works very well for Diarreah! I don't have a clue why they're selling it as a sleep aid.

If its supposed to help w/ sleep and slows the gut down that might suggest opiod like activity. I wonder if there are any reporst of it being used as a painkiller or for menstral problems. Or maybe it is something like loperamide and has opiod activity but can't pass the BBB (BloodBrainBarrier). Just random idea I'm throwing out there. I'll have to look this one up and se what I can find out about it.

Very good for diarreah, that's all I've noticed. I thought I'd put it here in case anyone wanted some help during W/D. I got kind of used to Loperamide and the normal recommended dose does nothing for my system anymore. Even at the 20mg range I'll easilly shit the next day.

I looked it up, of course, and the literature I found is confusing to say the least. You know how it is with these things... different sources say completely different things. I'm just trying everything out for myself and seeing what it actually does for me.
