Do you remember that episode where Jim is locked-up in a small town Sherriff's jail, and the deputy comes back to find the jail cell is empty, but still locked?

So the deputy curses, opens the jail cell, sees that Jim has escaped, curses again and then runs out of the Sherriff's office, to try and track him down.

After the deputy leaves, the camera slowly pans back to the jail cell, and you see Jim Rockford get out from underneath his mattress (where he was hiding), and casually walk out of the Sherriff's office!

I was but a wee lad when I watched that, but it was a good show as I remember. Also, around that same time was the ORIGINAL Hawaii 5-0. Barnaby Jones and Quincy round out the mid to late '70's network shows.

game of thrones is my favorite right now

true blood and weeds are my all time favorite shows, true bloods new season is way better than any other season, with the return of a very EVIL man and the implied doom of mainstream vampires. There are 4 episodes left and I can't fucking wait.

Weeds is great to, it goes a little crazy in seasons 5-7, but season 8 has brought nancy and the show back to their roots.

    Ha!

Anyone heard of the Tommy Westphall hypothesis, or 'six degrees of separation for television'?:

Pretty funny attempt to show up the ridiculousness of comic book universe continuity if it were applied to television.

Totally remember that episode. Damn near remember them all.
I loved the ones where he would have to hire Angel to help him and Angel would inevitably run off or screw him in some way.
We used to call the last 10 minutes "The Rockford Wrapup' because they would make the whole episode come together in that last few minutes.
He was born/raised in the same small Ok town I was so I always loved Garner, "Maverick" was also incredible.

I couldn't decide because I really like all the shows on the poll and then thought, "If I could pay $100.00 and that would guarantee one show would run another season, which one would I give my money to?" Immediately knew it was The Wire. I still wonder about those characters and actually get excited when I see them pop up on other shows. Also, I've seen interviews with David Simon and always come away with renewed respect for the man.

I actually thought this seaon of True Blood was going rather slow until last weeks episode . the one where bill brings up blowing up the True Blood facilities.

Who would have thought bill would be changing into such an evil vamp, and Eric is turning out to be the good one ?

This past Sunday the show just got awesome again !

Vampires are lucky, they can feed on others. We gotta eat away at ourselves. We gotta eat our legs to get the energy to walk. We gotta come, so we can go. We gotta suck ourselves off. We gotta eat away at ourselves til there's nothing left but appetite. We give, and give and give crazy. Cause a gift that makes sense ain't worth it. Jesus said seventy times seven. No one will ever understand why, why you did it. They'll just forget about you tomorrow, but you gotta do it.

I have the series on DVD great show. I found this jem pictured below at an antique shop featuring Sherilyn Fenn, the actress who played Aubrey in twin peaks. Kind of made me feel old seeing as it was in a antique shop. Its kind of weird buying a playboy from an old woman in an antique shop I have more confidence buying rigs then that playboy

True Blood doesn't follow the books at all really, but the same thing sort of happens in the books (Bill ends up being the 'bad guy' and Eric the 'good guy').

Twin Peaks is the shit, and got my vote. I don't think there's ever been anything like it on TV, I guess Lost was a little bit like it, but overall nothing comes close in terms of overall strangeness. It's incredibly dark and creepy but it's funny. I don't think there will ever be anything quite like it on network tv again, it was just too wierd.

“God, but life is loneliness, despite all the opiates, despite the shrill tinsel gaiety of "parties" with no purpose, despite the false grinning faces we all wear. And when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter - they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long. Yes, there is joy, fulfillment and companionship - but the loneliness of the soul in its appalling self-consciousness is horrible and overpowering.”

I have to add True Blood to the list. Nothing like a group of sexy vampires to get me worked up.

Another one not to forget: Carnivale from HBO

I can't put them in any order but The Wire, The Sopranos, Nip/Tuck, and The Shield, are all at the top of the series game. Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and 6 Feet Under are all up there too... Weeds, kinda' isn't drama, more black comedy. A shows episode for me has to have more than 23 minutes per to create any sort of drama.

S.O.A. went to shit about midway through Season 2. I had pretty high hopes for that shit too, being that Kurt Sutter of The Shield created it. Who knew that Sutter plays Otto??? Kurt Sutter said that he was pretty sure that the cast of S.O.A could kick the shit out of those lames in The Devil's Ride. That shit is pathetic.

And, yeah, Carnivale was pretty cool.

I had to go with Breaking bad, but I'm just starting to watch the Wire, and damn this show is good.

Anyone watch Rubicon during it's brief single season before it was cancelled? I loved that show. I was so bummed when AMC pulled it.

Due to many recommendations here I've started watching the Wire from the beginning on HBO GO on my I phone.
Yes, it's a great show. I'm only half way through season one. What a treat I now have to look forward to.

Chemboy7 - "Sleeper Cell" That was that HBO series with Oded Fehr right? "Friends. Neighbors. Husbands. Terrorists." I only got to see the first season. I didn't even know they had made a second. I agree it was pretty great.

Gotta go with anything created by the DemiGod Joss Whedon. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse...and can't forget the websation of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog.

But my all time favorite as far as dramas go has to be The West Wing. I wish Rob Lowe had been kept on through to the end, but it was fantastic. And watching it really got me interesting in learning more about politics and the way the American government operates behind the scenes.

NCIS & Criminal Minds come in 2nd & 3rd on my top 10 list.

I've never seen The Wire or Breaking Bad so can't offer an opinion but have heard many great things about both.

That's the one, yeah. I believe it was on Showtime though. There were two seasons, the second deals with a different sleeper cell with Darwin staying as the undercover FBI agent.

The corner's pretty fucking great too and the book's even better.

I've not been around much and don't know if it's been mentioned, but D'andre passed on very recently which is very sad if somewhat inevitable.

    Edit,Yeah Oz was great too.

I caught the first two intermittently but I was never one for actually following episodes week to week and waiting for/recording them; if I'm really interested I'll just wait until the show ends and get the DVD collection, otherwise I just end up watching the stuff piecemeal on TV, missing plot points, storylines etc.

I'm on the 4th season of Prison Break (which is as good as I remember it being), and even though I hear that Lost got very convoluted as it went on, I'll still check it out (plus anything that has Adebisi from Oz in it has to be worth watching; Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was actually cast because the producers had seen and were impressed by his performance on Oz).

How about Homicide: Life on the Streets too? Trumps the overblown farce that is CSI and to a lesser extent Law & Order, sticking to the realism that would become a hallmark of The Wire.

If anyone here is into TV shows but can't be bothered with DVD's (like me; I only ever purchased The Wire and The Sopranos, plus seasons of The Simpsons and Futurama), check out Project Free TV.

    Just a tip.

Funny how actors on HBO serials intersect, especially between The Wire and Oz, plus Homicide and The Sopranos.

I wonder who would win in a fight between Adebisi and Omar? Probably Omar on the street and Adebisi in prison.

I originally voted mad men but criminal minds takes the came for me. That show gets my blood pumping every episode! And i never think "nope impossible thats dumb" they work hard to makethings accurate as possible.

Not just from serial killer psycology to the way they hunt for them. Gotta love that show.

Did yall know there are at any given point and time 25 seriel killers are operating on american soil. THINK ABOUT THAT!
