Default PAIN DOCTOR BECOMES PAIN PATIENT(must read for cpp)

    http://www.webmd.com/pain-management...072612_ld-stry

I found this article on WEBMD, and its something that ive said all along. NO ONE can truly understand the devestating effects chronic, daily pain has on ones life unless it happens to you. In my wishful thinking, I always said that I wish there was a way where new doctors had to spend at least a week in chronic pain. I guarantee it would change most, if not all, of their views against pain meds.

I have a ton of respect for this dr, and wish there were more like him. Especially for him not dismissing patients simply because they are also addicts. Addicts have pain too, and deserve to be treated as well, but most doctors dont want to be bothered. It really sucks that it takes this level of circumstance to wake most doctors up. I am thankful everyday for having a super understanding and caring doc who doesnt just dismiss my pain as countless others have.

    it a good read.

for those who ever wished to "share their pain" with a fuck-head doctor, this is kinda like that (without any felony having been committed).

Great Dr. but would'nt ya know it, he retired. I hope that he is at least passing on his knowledge to a younger Dr.
I don't want to have to start playin "bumper cars" just to get some understanding.

Why is it that most "legitamate" doctors will only keeo your pain at a manageable level , but never actually get you pain free ?

It seems as if the doc is always 1 increase behind what you would need for the medicine to really get rid of the pain you are in.

It sucks spending close to $1000 a month just to get by and not be pain free.

I have been t 4 different docs and they have been the same way with the dosages for the most part.

They seem more scared of the DEA than actually treating your pain adaquetly .

It took me about six years and 12 doctors before I found one that was not scared to rx me what I need. I can say that Im truly pain free about 90% of the time on my current dosages. Now, when most ppl, even ppl who do opies, hear about what im given and the levels im given(see pic below), they either dont beiieve me or think im crazy, but its what works for me and its not like I spend my days drooling on myself with my chin in my chest nodding out. (although some days I wish i was!). My point is, although its frustrating as shit and takes alot of time and resources, there IS a dr out there who puts helping you live a quality life over fear of the powers that be. Like I said, ive been to many drs who wouldnt give me shit, and a few who would give me enough to say they are helping but not enough for me to live comfortably. However, the true goal of pain mgt is not to be completely pain free, but to be free enough to have a decent quality of life. Undertreatment of pain is a big cause of pseuaddiction, and drives legit ppl to doctor shop and even go to the streets. Hang in there, and keep looking until you find a dr who cares, and then do everything in your power to keep that dr.
