Pupils constriction/dilation (How to hide it)

My pupils are a dead giveaway for people to see that I have been using.
For me when I use opiates "morphine seems to be the worst" my eyes have tiny tiny pupils. People say my eyes look like "two pee holes in the snow."

When I use a oxy its not nearly as bad, when I use a does of methadone that just stabilizes me, my eyes are not that bad.

But if I get high, not even super high, just a nice high with say 16-24mgs of hydromorphone IV my pupils really really constrict to the point people notice, and if they know about my habit they know I've been using.

Pot heads can use products like Visine or Clear eyes for redness. Is there anything like this for dilated pupils?

I believe I would want my pupils to dilate? I think dilated pupils are the opposite of constricted pupils. And dont some drugs dilate our pupils?

There must be someone who knows a good trick for this problem.
Aside from wearing sunglasses or something to just cover them up.

DXM will get your pupils nice and dilated. You must have light eyes for them to be readily noticeable? I have dark brown eyes so you can't really notice but they'd be a dead giveaway all the time if they weren't so dark.

Atropine and other shit like that will dilate your eyes black, and you'll look even worse. Stimulants can help, as can anti-histamines slightly, but again I tried a lot of things and a little bit of bup worked pretty damned well.

Also muscling tends to not pin my eyes as bad, tho I can't count on it.. It's the quick hard hits that do it, like HM or H, I can muscle a lot of morphine before it pins my eyes..

Chopstix you used the words "pins my eyes" "That is exactly my problem, they get totally pinned. I don't think this happened when I was younger, this pinning of my eyes is new. And it sucks.

My s/o has almost creepy pale blue eyes and he looks pinned even when he's not. Its almost impossible for him to NOT look high.. but those glasses helped (before he got contacts..)

It's a trip how depressants show themselves in your eyes (constriction) and stimulant-types with dilation.

Yeah, this would be very hard to balance-out using anti-cholinergics (Atropine or scopolamine).

One would go from pin-point pupils to blasted, looks-like-he's-trippin, big. You cannot dilute atropine (or other types of dilators) enough to just get a little response.

Some stimulants increase pupil size, but unlike atropine, I don't think they can over-power the opiate miosis.

Sounds to simple, but maybe its worth testing out if I spend some time without light, in a dark room or something maybe my pupils would adjust themselves a little?

Simply spending time in a dark room hoping to dilate my pupils is a real long shot....but still it might work a little.

If you are high they will not dialate.. Its in low light when it is most obvious who is opiated or not.. I remember seeing a friend fresh out of rehab out at a club drinking a seltzer and yapping to everyone how CLEAN/SOBER he was..
One look in his eyes gave it all away and I totally ragged on him--He couldn't deny it and begged me not to tell anyone lmao..

anytime i see my eyes in a mirror and they arent pinned looking i freak out.
would prefer something that keeps em small all the time even if not loaded...

its been so long i guess, since ive seen them 'big'(or maybe 'normal?') that i really have a negative association with them being 'not pinned.'

wear more sunglasses and avoid EVERYONE is more my method...

Buckshot, you must have eyes that are particularly obvious to miosis. I have green eyes & while my pupils are very clear, they don't pin to a tiny dot. They used to but I think tolerance has allowed them to behave relatively normally on methadone & gear. They do react, just not dramatically. Drugs that dilate pupils are more obvious in my eyes.

Paups is right about being on gear in a dark room. They won't dilate, you just won't see like you would normally. Many people I've spoken to can't drive at night for this very reason.

I really wouldn't start using other drugs to combat this effect. You'll probably end up looking more fucked up than before. Maybe you could just use when you won't be disturbed for a few hours (before bed perhaps..). Don't know if this is possible for you.

When I went into detox to get completely off opiates the doctors would constanly check my pupils to halp asses how my taper was going. They seemed to like it when my pupils were large so they knew I wasnt getting high on the prescribed taper opiates. But what about when the doctors occasionaly checked my pupils using the little flashlight into my eyes?

What would be the response? constriction and is it that instant they can see it constrict?
Im pretty sure the police have some level of training on pupils too.

How do we fix this? Maybe a low dose of ritalin? not enough to have any real effect but enough to reduce the dramatic constriction. For us folk with light eye colors this is a pretty big problem.

The strange thing is I dont notice my eyes/pupils look odd at all when I look in the mirror, but to others its so noticeable. So fucked up. I think I look fine so I go out and my girlfriend freak out. grrr

My eyes pin terribly, they're called 'piss holes in the snow' by older folk. It's very obvious too, very light blue eyes.

when I first started using my eyes would get very pinned. These days though, they dont change much. Only time you can tell that im high is when Im on stimulants and they're dilated. I suppose tolerance has something to do with this? I have light colored eyes as well.

Atropine eyedrops will definitely do it for you, but you run the risk of having pupils the size of supper plates along with scorching your eyeball innards. Who knows what else can go wrong, but atropine is all I've seen used for those in my family who've had eye exams.

I was gonna mention the color change too. I've got extremely light blue/grey eyes but they get a LOT more green when I'm especially high. There's no missing it when I've had lots of goodies.

Same here. Doesn't look natural at all. It's the association with tripping and withdrawal. I have to avoid mirrors when I'm kicking or I freak myself out more than I already am.

Nobody ever noticed no matter how pinned my eyes were. The only time people notice is if they know opiates cause constriction or they know you use opiates. There are eye drops out there that dilate your pupils, but are suppose to be uncomfortable and prescription. I'd just use sunglasses to cover em up around people who would notice (as long as you aren't inside wearing em lol) and not worry about it the rest of the time.

You'd be surprised how many people know what pinned eyes mean... don't think people don't know, no one is ever as clever as they think they are.

To de-pin opioid induced pupils:

Get some Phenylephrine 0.05% decongestant nose drops, and drop a TINY amount into each eye, and make sure you lie flat on your back or stand up for a while afterwards (15min). Otherwise, your entire pupilary sphincter won't be exposed to the phenylephrine, and the bottom half will relax, leaving you with VERY strange looking eyes, with key hole shaped pupils. (first hand experience)

If your pupils still aren't dialated add a little bit more. DO NOT ADD TOO MUCH, THEY WILL BECOME BLOWN OUT

The phenylephrine doesn't last too long either, so make sure you check in the mirror periodically.

Make SURE you don't accidentally add to much to one eye. Then you will look like you have a traumatic brain injury.

Atropine eyedrops will definitely do it for you, but you run the risk of having pupils the size of supper plates along with scorching your eyeball innards. Who knows what else can go wrong, but atropine is all I've seen used for those in my family who've had eye exams.

Atropine isn't OTC usually, and it could possibly leave your eyes blown for a day or more if you add too much. This is why phenylephrine is a better choice, since it's OTC, and doesn't last that long.


To make big pupils smaller, you would need something that mimicks the effects, or increases the amount of acetylcholine, such as, an acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (Roach killing spray, Nerve gas, Pesticides, etc.) Obviously this wouldn't be very safe.

There are some acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (Donepezil, Rivastigmine) that are used pharmaceutically to treat things like Alzheimer's dementia, Parkinsons etc. However, I'm not sure that it would be safe to apply these to your eye. And again, they aren't OTC, so that makes accessibility a problem.

You could also apply acetylcholine topically to your eyes, I believe it might be sold as a supplement OTC, so that wouldn't be too hard to convert to a eye-safe salted solution. There is an ophthalmological preparation of acetylcholine chloride, called Miochol-E, which is used to constrict pupils.

With a moderate opiate dosage hydroxyzine (sp) seems to work from what I've seen, adds a little to the high too.
