My dilemma; Metabolites and manslaughter
I need help please; I'm conflicted and don't know which way to jump ...
There is the potential for involuntary manslaughter here. My friend is recovering from renal failure, pneumonia, anemia and who knows what else ... she's in hospital.
She's been taking around 5-12 2 mg. Clonazepam. for many months on top of her Diazepam (which is an unknown) ... I've averaged it out at around 25-50 x 5 mg. Daiz. / (per) WEEK all things considered.
She tell me this morning that she went into the horrors that she compared to the DT's (alcohol w/d). They reluctantly gave her 5 mg. Diaz. She broke down and asked me to bring in some of her dose from home.
Now, she's about to have dialysis so I don't know where I stand with the fact that she too 10 mg. Diaz. + an extra 20 mg. Methadone. I handed the meds to her and she took them.
Now, I KNOW how much she's been putting away (no, I don't have a benzo. habit) and dialysis will start soon ... could I have overloaded her kidneys but allow her, her own meds ?
You know how they treat us when they know we're addicts and ay 70 I cannot stand and watch my closest friend withdraw.
Yet, in a sliver of a chance, I may have harmed her.
What would you do and am I in trouble ? It's doing my head in. I'm stuck between those 2 lousy hard places again !

Did you ever find anything out in this situation?

Re: My dilemma; Metabolites and manslaughter
Sorry about the delay.
Yes I did. The doses were of no consequence and in the end, I had to terminate the relationship ... call me heartless but she was TOO heavy for me and my life was all about helping her. I got sucked dry, you could say.
20 years later, I had to focus my energies on myself, my partner and shortly, my folks.
When you help someone too much, you end up disabling them. She needed to fend for herself; I'm too old for this sht.
I got no thanks for saving her life and I ended up copping so much abuse, I knew that I made the right decision.
But it hurts and every day I'm reminded of this.
