Best way to crush those tough little balls? (MS Contin)

Irish, I thought you were prescribed the 8 mg IR tabs. They switched you to the HM contin stuff now? Sorry to hear that, if it is the case.

Switched to a combo of the 2. It really pisses me off. I was on a regimen that was working, and now they are changing it by removing the benzos and lowering my dose a little as well as adding the er meds. They don't work nearly as well for my pain, which changes through the day. It was easier to take a little more or less of the ir. I still have a huge stock-pile of ir pills though so I'm not running out anytime soon. It's just the prep time and amount lost from the er's that bothers me.

ya that's really a worry for myself irish that it will be suggested to replace some or all of the IR with the HM-Contin, I really despise those, damn beads are so bloody hard. In my case I can say well they are just too damn expensive and I can't afford them, which is actually true, on top of what you said, when I take my meds I want to know how much I just took and need their effects right now, I don't want a whole bunch kicking in later when I might not need or want it to, maybe try running that past them next time?

I'm hoping for an increase in the next year or so and do not want this to be a suggestion, ugh, not on any benzo's though which helps somewhat I suppose.

I found the best thing with those beads is a mortal and pestel, and you have to grind the fuck out of them to get them into a real pulverized powder, otherwise you will have fragments and it will be very coarse with the bead particles. It might hurt your wrist and I agree the prep is ridiculous, but you can get it to a total powder, that might help what your doing with them. insulfating those are disgusting, the taste and everything, and I even tried ingesting 36mg (two 18s) by smashing the beads and swallowing them, and it had no where near the same effect as 24mg of the IR swallowed normally, ugh, sorry to hear man

I use a stainless mortar and pestle, and grind them very fine, but my worry is that I'm crushing the meds into the plastic to th point that it can't be retrieved. If I had the spare cash, and knew it would work for dure then I would get one of those "space case" grinders. I've even considered using my magic bullet, but I don't see that working out too well.

just bought a good quality grinder(sharpstone) and it is cutting up the balls and some powder is collecting in the bottom chamber when I flip it, but I am not seeing any of these empty bead shells I have heard of. Am I doing something wrong?

I really don`t think your able to just pop the beads open, have the powder dump out and leave only an empty shell, this is what your attempting to do irish...

I think just the nature of the beads, when enough pressure is applied that will cause them to bust open, they fragment, and perhaps trap some of the powder inside of those fragments. It would be very hard if not impossible IMO to get the powder from within the beads without mashing the beads up at the same time, though I could be wrong. Take the m-eslon for example, those beads are sooo soft, you cannot seperate the beads from powder, they mash so easily and turn to a pure powder, that is what you get, I`m not sure if they are made of some kind of gelatin those one`s or what, the HM-Contin seem to be much more plasticy that anything I agree, uh, such a dumb product, who wants hydromorphone, with its great oral bioavailability, in an extended release capsule, what a useless medication!

Actually, now that I have done it a few times I am getting larger pieces than with the mortar and pestle, but since they are cut, and not squished together into a powder I am getting much better results. Using my 3cc plus .5cc for water loss, in 3 individual washes into a 3cc rig I am now left with chunks with little or no taste to them even when chewed. The grinder seems to be the way to go. Got a small sharpstone for $25 and it takes longer than the mortar and pestle, but I'm getting nearly 100% out of the beads. You just have to grind for a while.

Disconnect -- the reason I like to separate the shells is I feel they might sorta dissolve in the water before I shoot it, and that doesn't sound healthy. Its simple, also, if you have a good tool.
