for years I have criticized my home state for not allowing methadone treatment.
for years not having access to methadone in state, has forced me to uproot myself, and seek treatment in other states.
the first time I sought treatment I moved to the Bay Area with caring relatives...
the 2nd time I drove with other patients, every weekend, over 8 hours roundtrip, to get methadone treatment in Utah. we did that for around 5-6 months.
I am a bit behind the times, and just found out that Boise Idaho now has three methadone clinics. already there is a stir in the community about this.
Idaho is a relatively large state, that is spread out....people in the north are closer to Seattle than they are to Boise...
as far as I know, Boise is the ONLY city in Idaho to allow methadone.
what I dont understand is if this is only allowed in Ada county, or if this is a statewide allowance.
its nice to know that there is another option now besides buprenorphine, or expensive inpatient treatment in Idaho.
