    Default VITADONE(M'DONE SUPPLEMENT)

First off I want to say when the hell did this website come back online? I remember back in March it disappeared. And I checked everyday for a few weeks, then after month and was still gone.

Seeing this ad for Vitadone, made me finally come check again, and its been about 4-5 months, my God. Anyhow to get to the point I'm pretty excited about this new supplement I got a brochure for from my clinic. It's called Vitadone and it's suppose to be a nutritional supplement especially for people that take Methadone. One problem I've had since taking methadone and even just opioids period was constipation. I have a very fast metabolism and used to be able to go 2-3 times a day at any time. Now I have to wait until 4-5 am everyday, except maybe once in a while I'll be able to go midday. Charming conversation huh.

Anyhow it says it helps with constipation, sweating, withdrawal feelings, more energy, just a better well being. Sounds like something to try. I was hoping to get some opinions from anyone that tried this yet. Unless it's abrand new product, because this is the first I've heard. The website is Vitadone.com for anyone that wants to check it out.

Up to potassium are just your standard vitamins and minerals (minus iron, maybe because iron can also cause constipation)... the rest you'd have to look up individually. Not saying it isn't worth looking into, I just tend to be skeptical of this type of thing... everybody wants a miracle cure, obviously, but $24.95 + $6.50 s&h is kind of high for 90 multivitamins, and, yeah.

Couldn't hurt to take it. It's looks like it's just your typical Centrum like vitamin.

..... found that when it got *really* bad, I'd cop, and fuck all that detoxing, whether I'm eating carrots and brown rice, or vodka and cough drops, I've learned only one sure thing about detoxing:

The only thing i worry about is all those fat-soluble vitamins....junkies aren't known for being very thick. But i guess if you're already on done, most people GAIN weight on that, so like you said, wouldn't hurt. And really, it's surprising just how much better you can feel when you get all your vitamins and minerals, something us junkies take for granted.

As addicts, we (I) tend to want to take a certain thing for a certain problem, but vitamins (usually) don't work that way. But when it's in one pill it's a lot easier to handle. RLS symptoms in withdrawal can be SOOO much better if you have enough potassium in your system. Still sucks ass, but a little bit less.

Not to be a downer, but it just looks pretty much like a run-of-the-mill vitamin...Any vitamin will help a little bit with constipation and energy, but Idk if I would put to much stock into this being the new miracle cure for MMT patients... Good luck though.

I focus on calcium and magnesium combinations, along with eating at least one banana a day, if not more.
I eat the chewable gummi vitamins as well,...and take a big dark mushroom tonic pill.

methadone is a substance that takes it out of me long term. having proper diet is pretty damn important.

looking back in the past, I think that a good portion of my lengthy kicks were due to poor diet. basically being malnourished takes at least a month or more to recover from. sure, kicking the drugs is hard too...but having good health when going into a kick makes for a much shorter recovery.

without calcium and magnesium I would have a hell of a time taking methadone on a daily basis. I made the mistake of taking methadone for months 2-3 times a day.
I came up with a bad case of fecal impaction that I had to "take care of" myself.....in certian circles I gained the name "hashi" or chopstick, and not just because I had a job at a sushi bar.

ANYWAY.....magnesium and calcium helps tremendously with being regular and muscle issues.

health shakes, fruits, supplements, herbs, tonics, medicinal mushrooms, good food but with moderation, if a person can afford to take care of themselves, they will get more from their medication or drug of choice, and they should be able to detox easier. its a bitch to afford all of that stuff....but I consider my old drug habits, and found that with supplementation, you can boost the effectiveness of your drug of choice.
taking a bit of nigella sativa oil, which is a possibly opioid active/interactive product, and having a healthy body, on top of opiate medication, makes for a pretty strong euphoric experience. I catch myself singing when I am in good euphoria....sometimes it can get a bit annoying....or entertaining...depending on who is around.....with nigella sativa supplementation,...I found myself singing a little too much.

I know there are special considerations when it comes to opiates depleting the body of substances...
maybe we should try and compile a list.

Nice post Jacky, you truly are, like a few others on here, a human book. Some of you guys have so much experience, in such a lifestyle, that really makes you an invaluable resource because it's not talked about/understood much by those who've haven't really "went through" it themselves...

Additionally, I believe that for most, once you have the horrifying experience of having to suffer through a fecal impaction, it's usually the trigger to cause one, opiod user or not, to take a good look at their health and diet and decide to make some positive changes. I know from experience that nothing anyone told me or did, really made me give a damn about my horrible diet/lack of nutrition. I was content eating nothing all day with a greasy burger, fries, and a fruit-roll-up at 3 a.m. when I actually did get hungry...

It wasn't until I suffered that awful pain of feeling like you have razorblades in your intestines, to actually made me see what I was doing to myself and the need to change. If nothing else I swore I would do everything in my power to Never feel that pain again. Positively the most painful experience of my life was a fecal impaction. Constipation is really no joke. It may be taken lightly, but to those that have had to deal with it, it really can be one of the scariest things in the world.....

Yeah I think they should double the magnesium dose to 500mg. Like jacky said, magnesium and calcium are very important to take if you are on methadone. Plus magnesium can boost methadone, keeping it in your system longer. It interacts with the NMDA receptors, helps reduce acidity, and helps muscle and nerve function. I'd like to try vitadone but it seems a bit expensive. It would be a lot cheaper to make your own based off their formula.

I have noticed you have said that an opi with good health and diet can detox easier a few times in the past as well. One of the truest statements out their on drug addiction that doesn't get enough press.

Your still going to withdrawal, but I have always thought you were able to bounce back much faster.

The creators of "Vitadone" have a nice little "scheme" going. People on methadone have horrible diets. I know people that eat Fruit Loops and drink Yoohoo all day.

What a rip off... then again most supplements are. Eat some fruit, yogurt and vegetables once in a while and lay off the sauce and you'll be amazed how much better you feel.

Not that I actually do any of that. The Chef is strictly a pork and beer motherfucker.

yeah thats exactly what my parents would say... I've never taken vitamins in my life for that reason.

But heaps of people, esp users DON'T eat a proper diet - or anything near to it, so wouldn't vitamin supplements be of use to those people??? Or even just your average person - alot of them would claaim they have no time to eat al the stuff you're meant to... I dunno... Like i've said - i never tried the whole supplements thing..maybe i should try.. I can't seem to get this "its a waste of money!" record out of my head though, instilled through the physicians in my life - they all say just eat a reasonable diet..

JACKY - i know bananas are great and i love them, but they do back up your shit pretty significantly..i don't know that i'd be recommending them to 'done users who are already constipated (maybe not one a day anyway). When babies or toddlers have the runs you start giving them banana and they stop shitting(squirting) pretty quickly.

Shit now you guys are making me think i should take some sort of Mg/Ca... I take Folate at 5x normal dose (ep), and i used to take iron sometimes...i wish they could just compound some into the tabs i already have to take..

Not really. The stuff on the market isn't nearly complete enough or at a high enough dosage to make much of a difference. People treat the stuff like a magic cure-all pill and that's just not the case.

If you take enough magnesium, the calcium and potassium won't cause constipation.
Sublingual, liquid, and injectable vitamins have higher bioavailability. Minerals can work fairly well orally.

some really good info here! I kinda think the vitadone is a bit on the expensive side, and has a little marketing "scheme" that one could easily do on there own. thanks to the posters who are dropping the knowledge on how to actually put good vitamins and food into your diet while on opie's to help with the side effects.

I wonder if there is a specifice vitamin or herb out there that can help with the excessive sweating... I swear I break a sweat getting up to answer the phone

But it MUST be the methadone that just rots peoples teeth, right?

yes the sweating is def my most hated side effect (apart from wds if you stop or go without for too long of course..) I never used to have that stinky sweat and would hardly ever sweat at all unless i was doing hard physical exercise - since being on 'done my sweat is that sickly smell, and i sweat at night which is gross, and by the time i walk back from the shower i reckon my armpits are already starting to seep.....tis gross.
