a trip report by grug at erowid.org titled "instant astral travel" has some interesting info about a person habituated to methadone using DXM to reduce withdrawl etc. I have tried this approach and found that DXM works for me as a tolerance reducer. I have seen a few reports of people using JUST DXM alone when going through withdrawl and having positive effects. as well the FDA HAS APPROVED DXM FOR JUST THIS VERY PURPOSE. I was habituated to the DXM after a year of using DXM mostly as an adjunct to codeine and poppy seed usage. I would use DXM as an entheogen/psychedelic as well a few times a month, in higher doses. I think most people just cant believe that there has been an agent of relief all this time sitting as an OTC medication while they have suffered dearly. DXM and loperamide may drasticly reduce withdrawl effects opioids. I have used loperamide in combo with DXm and found that the loperamide certainly seems to add a "psychoactive component" to the DXM. DXM has a pretty variable effect on alot of people, and not everyone that I have talked to that has tried it as a tolerance/withdrawl has had positive effects. example: me and a freind both went on naltrexone for a while at the same time. there are two seperate general side effect categories for naltrexone, and we where on oppisite sides of this side-effect categorie, not suprisingly when we both took DXM for withdrawl we had opposite effects. he hated it, I found considerable relief. so DXM MAY work for some individuals, a person could try the small amounts from store bought sources, and if finding a positive result order the material in bulk from various other pharmacy sources for cheaper.

was morphidex approved? I used to be able to find info about the morphine/dxm syrup but can't anymore
I use dxm ALWAYS because it gives me the ability to use slightly lower doses than usual. dxm is alot cheaper than 1 or 2 more pills/bags/etc.
the morphine/dxm ratio used in morphidex was 1mg:1mg which I think it came in 20 40 50 and 60 could be wrong though

oh and I have used DXM many times as a dissassociative drug like ketamine and pcp which it is related to. I don't do it much anymore maybe once or twice every 2 or 3 months. I have too much memory loss the next day to really enjoy taking it alot
it makes you think a lot. I combinded a large dose with Morning Glory and Haiwaiin Baby Woodrose seeds, very very different lol that's how I describe it. I tape recorded most of the stuff I said during that trip it's crazy.
I'm not really into psychedelic drugs right now but I'd definitly say that dxm has some psychedelic properties at higher levels than for the purpose of cough suppression or lowering opiate tolerance

how about naltrexone and DXM together???.....Jacky, What can you tell me about Naltrexone?....How good is it for Heroin Withdrawl and how would one go about getting it???....I know you had mentioned in an email certain cocktails you've concocted I believe to manage your opiated state...I mean that in good fun...however, what cocktail would u recommend for the H withdrawl, one that I can concoct without having to go to another country for a fucken seed of a plant of a pod...you know...hahah....and one that I can pass over to the love of my life for future reference for his withdrawls....mind you I hope it doesn't take him a decade to get sick of it like you did.....He's only going on a year riding the white horse, still a fresh puppy...

I can tell you about naltrexone deepinsyn,I have used it a few times in the past.It is preety nasty, but depends on when you last had H or methadone or whatever. The last time I had been on Buprenorphine(subutex) for abot 2 years and after suferring for 5 weeks w/ding from bupe I begged the doc for naltrexone as I had used it before.Within 15 mins of taking 50mgs you get severe withdrawals lasting for about 10 to 15 hrs with a nasty peak 6 to 8 hrs after taking it.I first used it in UK about 8 tears ago and used to get extremely drunk,take afew valiums then drop analtrexone, most of the time I would be asleep for the worst of it, but one night did wake up with jocks full of runny shit.But I dont drink anymore so last time I just put up with it.Also once you have taken naltrexone you cant stop it.You have to endure the withdrawal effects for at least 10hrs.The first time I had it I shot up 5 times my usual H dose plus half my mates methadone(15mls) and felt nothing at all from any of it,not even a little rush.The naltrexone just blocks it completely.It does work but you must endure the short and sharp withdrawal, valium or other shit can help,but I couldnt even smoke pot the last time.But if you realy want to get clean a soon as you can,naltrexone is the go,nasty but effective.But remember that after the naltrexone wears off, you are almost opiate naive again and you could easily od if you use the same amount of H as you did before.I got mine from the same doc that I get methadone or buprenorphine from.But I dont live in USA,so I dont know where you would get it.It was free in UK and also was free here in Oz.Better than methadone everyday if you really wanna get clean.

I took 50 milligrams of naltrexone for months, I relapsed while on naltrexone, I used about 4 times what I normally would have on a relapse and actually got high. the high was somewhat muted, but definiteley active, the itchies, the nod, etc.
I did most of this with people present except for the first shots, which was stupid as hell......a few months later a freind of mine tried the same thing and ended up dying....
I realized that taking naltrexone in large amounts was no longer going to be effective once I realized I could get high on the material.
I had some shitty side-effects from taking naltrexone, and had to sign a waiver as I couldnt be treated for pain anymore, even if I got in an accident, all they can do for you if you are on naltrexone and in pain is put you into a controlled coma.
I am sure the medication is good for some, but I lost too much weight while on naltrexone, and I also couldnt sleep for longer than 3 hours at a time.

Instant astral travel for sbout 12 or so hrs would definitely help me if i ever even toych a naltrexone tab(after the oter days experiance with 2-3mg). Trouble i find is staying there then getting back once suffering etc.DXM is only avail able with other stuff.Guaphenesin 200mg and 20 or 30mg DXM per 10 or 20 ml is the probably most benign others have all sorts mixed with it.But i dont know fuck all about guaphenesin.What should i expect from drinking 100-200ml. any one had any experience or feel like offering advice.I can still feel the efects(v.mild ) of the tiny bit of poison i took the other day(ie natrexone).Fuckin morphidex sounds great oh well, is DXM like ketamine or what.Used ketamine once(snorted) and although sort of enjoyable, i dont remember much about it apart from constant smile, and havent used it since.Havent come across it again, coz knowing me i cant say no!

During a phase of my life when I was "drug free," I used to drink a family sized 8 oz. bottle of Robitussin Extra Strength Cough Syrup in one go. Pretty interesting effects, but sometimes I would get hives, like I do from codeine (can't take codeine, hydro, oxy, H are all fine - well, what I mean is that they don't give me hives). I was only doing this because I was hard up.

I think it's not a nice feeling - a little to trippy.

What IS nice about the USA is that you can get DXM all by itself in a couple diff. preparations - the above mentioned Robo Extra Str. Cough or in Robitussin "cough gels" (sounds cute), which is a reintroduced sole-entity DXM liquid filled capsule. Back a few years ago, Coricidin Cough was the only capsule formulation of the DXM sole entity, but they took it off the market 'cos of abuse, well, Robo has moved in on that market now, it looks like.

Delsym is also kinda cool - extended release DXM. I find it to be more stimulating than other kinds of DXM. You gotta drink about 2 oz's of it to feel effects.

DXM is great, I got home one day and didnt want to take my suboxone, so I downed a good 3rd of a robo-tuss DM and waited. It takes a little bit to kick in for me, but when it does...wooo doggies. I havnt done acid in a ling time and this is the closest I have come to that feeling in a long time. I was in the shower when all of a sudden I noticed myself tripping out on the tiles. I then realized that I was all fuckered up. It was fun, kind of a self-discovery, thinking, walk-about in your head all at the same time. I didnt even think about w/d's from the sub while that shit lasted. I could only imagine what it would be like drinking the whole bottle.

I used delsym for almost a year straight, everyday, in low doses to complement my opiate regimine. In the latter part of the year I switched to straight dxm powder. The delsym is interesting stuff, I would chew all the little microbeads to release the drug faster.
I was taking around 50-100 + milligrams daily, and would notice a cut in dose by a responding lack of energy. On the weekends and sometimes weekdays , even workdays I would up the dose to the strongly psychoactive level , I would sometimes experience a state of mind where I would feel like I was just watching myself move, without actually being in charge of my body. I was a sushi chef at the time, and my job demanded that I interact with my customers, and also that I have a great deal of dexterity for my knife work and show cook skills. I would be incredibly messed up, but seemingly sober at the same time. This is the point where I seriously started questioning free will, I mean, I was just watching myself move around, i could feel and think, but from my perception I was along for the ride, once I relaxed in this state it made work great, as I hardly had to do anything, even though I was moving like a madman.
i was mainly taking DXM for the advantage of the effects of tolerance reduction. I also noticed some side effects were much lessened, like constipation , I had nearly normal bowel movements on a daily regimine of codeine, tramadol, and potent poppy seeds.
I also quit smoking during this time as the DXM seemed to make smoking obsolete. I finally got tired of the mental strain, the interrupted sleeping patterns etc and quit taking dxm daily. I noticed withdrawl from the DXM, this stuff would give me mad energy, and I was on the edge most times of being slightly manic from the mix, so when I quit I hit a brickwall of depression and low energy for around 10 days.Some of the side-efffects were similiar to that of withdrawl from efffexor. I found that taking dxm 1 or twice a week was about as effective for lowering tolerance and opiate side-efffects. I moved on to 1 day a week.
Nowadays I have a hard time tolerating the stuff even in lower doses, it just makes me sick for some reason, and does not seem to mix well with kratom in high doses.

The mental effects of DXM can be rewarding and amazing, I found great synergy when using smaller doses of DXM with 2ct-2

YES. Delsym is the way to go if you aren't interested in a completely mind-blowing experience. I take about 2 ounces of delsym every once in a while, combined with a 50-75mg hit of diphenhydramine at bedtime. It really does make my dreams more vivid, sometimes a little too real. I get that "wow, glad that was a dream" feeling sometimes.

I give delsym to my little boy. He's two and a half years old. Me and his mom give it to him when he has a cold, which he does right now. It works real good for coughs. We usually give him a hair over a teaspoonful, just to be sure. It doesn't seem to affect him at that dose, really. That is one of the medications I don't really have a problem with giving to the little guy.


The comment about 2Ct-2 is interesting. I bought 200mg of 2C-E a coupel of months ago, and have been dipping into it periodically, 2 or 3mg's at a time, since then. I probably have like 25mg left. I took 8mg when I got it and that way WAY too strong for me. My tripping days are long gone.

Yea I know what you mean about the 2CE. I definitely recommend it for experienced "heads." I feel very comfortable with 10-15mg's. A social to strong trip type buzz. 30mg is the highest I've gone and that amount would make quite a few people lose it. I had a crazy adrenenline rush at that level. Could easily invoke the fight or flight thing for people not ready for that intense of a trip. I am not curious at all about the 30 mg level anymore. I will probably stick with about 15 or 20 from now on. Erowid's dosages are accurate as usual. I'm still trying to figure out my favorite poppy pod tincuture dosage. The whole reason I checked out this site to begin with.

Wow. Learn something new every day. I used to drink a bottle of NyQuil every night before bed. Not sure if it has the DXM.

My friend's little one goes beserker from the Robo DM. Now we know the kid isn't pretending. She walks around talking in rhyme as for example Fred's Head Is Dead In The Bead. My friend was thinking the kid is demonically possessed.

That goes to show that parents have to research what they're giving to kids. Crazy.

For a cough, you don't need much, only like 15-30mg. The psychoactive effects kick in (for me at least) around 100mg. For a heavy experience, around 500mg.

Kinda funny, on the news last Christmas some one had written in asking how to get the kids to sleep on Christmas night, I couldn't believe they told people to give the kids an extra dose of cough syrup or two.

As for jackys comment about watching himself working I've experienced this on DXM as well, the thing was I was driving. I used to love nothing more than taking 280 mg of DXM extracted using the agent lemon extraction method and driving to the coffee shop about 20 minutes away before it kicked in. There would be days I would honestly feel like I was sitting in the back seat watching my self drive the car. Not that I recommend any one do this, for some reason I can drive on just about anything, mushrooms, DXM, Ketamine, 2CI etc. Not that I think it's safe for me to do so but even if I feel like my ego has melted away and the roar of the engine sounds like the hum of the universe the car still stays on the road and takes me were I need to go.

The whole "watching yourself" thing happens to me on high doses of ketamine. I used to sell the stuff in highschool and at raves and shit so we allways had a lot around. For some reason I could allways handle A LOT without ever going into "the hole" so I've had some crazy experiences. When I did over 250mg the fun would really start. I saw myself as I stumbled around like a retard, like I was allways 3 ft behind myself. Being 3ft behind myself would allways fuck my depth perception up real bad (who would've thought). I'd be grabbing for shit like railings to try and keep from falling over just to miss and hit the ground laughing my ass off.

I've had some crazy hallucinations too; watching people appear and disappear like a rough CGI, seeing large faces form out of shit like blankets or chairs, and actually watching myself flying through the air over buildings and trees...crazy stuff... Once at a Rave at a ski resort in Vermont (in the summer, there was no snow) my buddy railed like a quarter of a bottle then stood up and proceeded to fall over and just roll his as about 200 ft down a slope. We went down to see if he was ok cuz he wasn't getting up, when we got there he was laughing so hard he was gagging. Man those were the days...

This chick is a drug/alcohol therapist so trust me she gives recommended doses exactly. I may add she's no fun for adults to be around either my friend. "Is someone drinking A beer in my home? GET OUT AND NEVER RETURN HEATHEN".

This child has always had the opposite effects on medications. Synergistic is it? Saw, and heard it myself. The kid is allergic to anything corn. Corn syrup. Half our food has corn syrup in it. My friend was giving her vitamins, and they weren't little cartoon ones either. This kid begged like a junkie in a whinny voice "Pllllllleeeeeeeesssseeee just give me one more vitamin. PLEASE". I was like woah. Like if it was Scooby or something I could see it. Here she finds out the vitamin was loaded with corn syrup. We crave what is bad for us. That's what my friend says. Great.

Christmas, and Tuss. How nice. I love Easter when you make a kid get dressed up, and sit in a Church trying to be still after they just ate a few pounds of sugar. That works. Nah. Benadryl, Tuss, Robo. I don't trust any of it and don't give it to children. Ever. Good oldfashioned Phenagrin does work.
