Man this is one of those great stories we all love to hear about..
So I have rheumatoid arthritis of the spine... Obviously this causes a lot of intense fucking pain.
Anyways, I have been seeing my PCP, since last December, taking things slowly and smartly. Started on trams, moved up to 100 vics and 90 trams.. I stayed with that for 5 months, even when being offered stronger things. I knew it was the right thing to do. Every now and then I would call for some percs or valium or whatever but nothing too big of a deal...
Now I have been complaining that the current pain regiment isn't working and we sat and had a chat today.. She guaranteed me she was positive I am not a drug seeker, not to be worried to ever call for refills, not to worry if I double up, that no matter what I need she will take care of it because she trusts me. She also told me to go research what to try out.
So today I said lets try Fentanyl and some Oxy IR she said no prob, started me on 25mcg and 5 oxy, just for 10 days and then next week we try oxycontin and then figure out whats the best and then said slowly we will move up to the highest dose and to never ever worry about calling in for more.
LOVE IT!!!
BTW this patch isnt sticking on very well even with tape... should I try duct tape?

I'm soooo happy for you! That is fantastic news. I wish we got more of these posts on the site!
I am very sorry for your rheumatoid condition, BTW. But congrats on the score.
SIDE NOTE:
For those out there who join up, and three days later post crazy assed ideas about how to miraculously have the above scenario take place within one weeks' time.... reread what the man said about taking it slow and building trust with your doctor.
Congrats again, man!

I too had a good Doc day...mine makes housecalls yet. Imagine that. I got bumped up to 100mic patches and Vicoprofen ES for breakthrough. I'm sitting on about 75 dolophine 10s from last month still and a gang of percocets (who wants 'em?)....
My PCP called my neurosurgeon to find out if he was okay with my dosages being increased...neuro asked PCP "Did you see his films?" PCP says "yes". Neuro says "Give him what he wants" PCP told me this story........good times.

I will ask SWIM what they use to keep their patch on. SWIM likes to take theirs off and put it back on.
The 25 is such a small patch...wait until you see the 100... it's about the size of a playing card. A lot more area to stick with.

Brought a tear to my eye actually, I have had bullshit luck with pain managment as well, in Germany i had the best doctor (also female)
now I live in australia for 2- 3 months and the doctor I found is just as good, he always asks do u need more , hes indian too wich is a classic, apply indian voice, ohh do you need any more oxycontin
ohh yes please sanjay :)
This is the way pain managment should be, but because some people fake it and get meds when they shouldnt it makes it hard for us real deal folks. also the fact that you have been with her for a long time and trust has been gained/earned im really happy for you, today was a great day for me
got my monthly refill
life is good

What tape are you using now to hold them on? I have found that the paper tape doesn't hold very well, at least for me. The "skin tape", like a lighter weight athletic tape, seems to work the best for me.
I work outside and the heat and sweat makes my patch move all over. It also makes it very itchy and tends to break me out in a rash where it is installed. For me, it is critical that I can lift up the edge to let my skin "breathe", to lessen the rash issue. Of all the different tapes I have tried, the above tapes works the best for me as I can keep pushing it down to restick it.
If you are inside most of the time where you don't have the heat/sweat issues, a lighter weight tape may work better for you. For the nominal cost of tapes, you can try a couple different kinds and see what works best for you.
BTW, this is with the Jansenn patches. The Mylan patches I used to just place a large band aid over the site which seemed to work quite well. YMMV
Congrats on finally getting something that will hopefully help with your pain, and good luck in keeping the patches on.
use the plaster tape that athletes tape ankles ect with that stuff is super sticky and only water will help it come off

Lucky, you have a GREAT doc. BTW the patch, try using some 3M medical tape, it's kind soft and puffy and it's tan not white. It works good, my dad had the same problem when he was on the patch and that 3M tape worked great.
