I am in some serious-ass Withdrawall from Subutex, 32+ mg /day. In my opinion it IS as bad as smack or OC withdrawal. I lost my job and can't afford to go back to my sub doc to get my new script or even pay for my new script if I got it. What recourse do I have? Hospital ER won't help will they? Any input appreciated.

If I were you, I would do all I could to fill one more script and take a huge nosedive down to 2mg's a day or less.

I've done most of the available opiates, and in my opinion they never differ in wd severity. I HAVE noticed that some have a difference in the type of wd symptom, that is, hydro tends to make me more nauseous whereas oxy makes me hurt in the bones and sneeze more, but that's all subjective as far as I'm concerned. Fact of the matter is, God made us this way for a reason, and that reason is that if we over-use or abuse the opiates that make us feel really good, we're gonna suffer if we just stop using/abusing them. Even terminal cancer patients report suffering through withdrawal if they suddenly become cured (yes, I do know of one personally who had to resort to methadone). It's nothing new for sure, but if you find yourself in this situation you don't have a lot of choices. In Canada and maybe some other countries you can get OTC codeine that MAY help if your habit isn't huge, but you risk the liver damage that can be caused by the acetominophen that is almost always combined with it. Other places like the US, you can always TRY the ER, but it's more likely that you'll get hit by lightning on a sunny day than you'll be given anything to help. Doctors and nurses usually don't fully understand the whole withdrawal thing and are not extremely sympathetic about it from my experience. Your best bet is to try like hell to get something, even if you have to be sneaky and (well, let's face it), not exactly legal and nice about it. I always drew the line when it came to hurting another person physically, but I'm not very proud of some of the things I (thought) I had to do sometimes.

Not proud of it at all, but sometimes you just want to stop hurting and you'll do things that you would normally never dream of. I still hope that those days are over for me...

Shit dude, 32 mg! That's a lot! Don't try and do it cold.

Is there no kind of subsidised health care in the US?

Get some imodium AD and take 7of them. You should feel a little better within 2 hours.

I have no idea about the side effects of large dosages of imodium but I do know that one side effect is that large doses of imodium cure opiate WD's.

32 mg a day is mind boggling. Did your doctor have you on that? It angers me to see how clueless these doctors are. They take a 2 hour intenet course and either through ingnorance they perscribe too high a does or greed and turning their back on the hypocratic oath, the over perscribe so you ahve to keep seeing them and paying for visits. You shouldn't be on any more than 4-6 mg a day and should try the 2 mg a day route tapering that over 2 weeks to get free. 32 mg would last the average H user trying to get clean at least 6 days. Not your fault, you didn't know any better. the "less is more" theory on subs is true accross the board. That is from my own experience and many others. Try to get your sub script or even just 1/2 of it...they will do that sometimes and be confidant that you will be ok on 4 mg a day for a few and then down to 3 and then to 2 and then so on. Get some benzos for the final step off so you can sleep the first few nights if you're having trouble after dropping yoour last dose of sub.

Good luck and you'll be fine.
