i read somewhere that older docs are more opiate friendly, and are willing to script them faster/easier than new docs. is this correct?
i am already scripted 90 norcos a month, but from a different state, and from a PM doc. think this doc will just give them to me w/o having to go through all that PM BS?
i just moved to a new state (texas) and there are 2 docs near me. father and son. of course i dont have to use one of these two, but if i did, the older/father doc would be the best, correct?
also, does anyone know of any sites than rate how leaniant (sp?) doctors are with meds, mainly opiates?
thanks.

I have no idea, but that would be so funny if someone did a study on that. There might be a use for old people after all!!!:p

You know, some people might take exception to that statement. :p Funny all the same though.

I actually think they are. From my experience and what I've encountered older doctors are more open to opiates. Young whipper snapper docs have that 'I'm gonna save the world by not prescribing opiates' syndrome and are less likely to prescribe the goodies.
I've never had an older doc have a problem with prescribing oppies but i have had young docs who have a prob with it.
Older docs are just from a different era and that makes all the difference i think.

I know, I know. I'm just in one of those half drunk, half stoned, half opiated kind of moods. Ya know? The triple threat.

funny thing actually. swim was researching the yellow pages for a doctor to prescribe subutex. anyways he comes across this old doc... i guess hes kinda retired but takes some patients that want to quit opiates. so this guy is totally chill. he only goes to his office when he has someone go there for an appointment. best part about it he didnt charge a dime for the visit. also asked what benzo swim would like also. the only down side to this guy was that he talked and talked forever about random nonsense. you know....old people and there senseless rambles..haha. but all n all the guy is totally cool cuz hes acutally trying to help young people out with their addiction. and he prolly know young folk are broke as hell so he didnt even charge a cent..... my kinda doc!!

I prefer older doctors because they have seen less prohibition in their time. The younger ones have already been brainwashed and tend to be more strict

Yep, these young quacks have watched too many episodes of House, and Law and Order.
I will take the old dude every time, there is a good chance he has suffered pain, and that makes a big difference.
In a choice of these two.....who knows, but in general,in go with an older doc. When they were young there were only opies for some problems, nowdays younger docs wanna try newer treatments.
Oh,plus I have this theory that older docs have suffered a bit of pain by now and most folks who've suffered know the worth of opiates.

I tend to lean towards the older docs, they seem to prescribe more and stronger and I have found that the younger ones (esp. the new ones), stay away from, for they are all about less drugs, drug tests, etc.

What's up evilfix... we've chatted on IRC before. I'd have to agree that the older docs are probably more inclined to prescribe opiates than the younger generation. It seems as though the DEA has made some docs out to be tantamount to Columbian drug lords which is ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times at the ER or how many doc's i've seen that probably wouldn't have a problem at a personal level with giving me the pills I can really use but they end up putting their tail between their legs because I might be an unforseen liability. What if I become unhinged and sue them for malpractice? Who the hell knows. I'm not crazy about health care in the U.S. along with the drug laws so, that's my two cents.

Yes, the older Doc as a genral rule tend to "get" pain cause as was mentioned they have suferred some. And they are from a differnt school of medicine. Old school thinking.
If it's a father and son practice.. possible the son may be a full partner or even run the practice and you can bet he's probably schooled Dad about RX'ing narcotics.
I do have a few PM clinics for you in that area ..I'll send them on to you in a few.

In my experience older docs are definately more willing to write for opies than younger ones are.

With my experience it's always the younger docs that are more lenient then others but usually its the other way around right?
well my doc right now is in his 30's I think and he is more opiate friendly then any other doc I've been to so Idk I guess it depends on the area you live in like I said Idk I'm just going off of my experience and I've been to like 15-20 docs already and I'm only 20yrs old so for 5 yrs I've been in and out of the docs.
in Germany my doc was female late 20's she was fantastic, I was in love, an I would of been her bitch for eva :P
now I have an indian doctor in australia, he is also very good, late 30's age
both didnt have a problem prescribing anything for me
the key is (now listen closley) HAVE A FUCKING MEDICAL CONDITION THAT REQUIRES NARCOTICS AND HAVE RECORDS AND PROOF :)

I know. Everytime there is someone in pain on 'E.R'. they make the patient out to be a drug seeker, i hate that because they start to believe every person who goes into the ER is a drug seeker. I'm a chronic pain patient and i have gone to the ER for pain. Luckily I haven't had any docs think i was a drug seeker. Someone told me it's because i look so innocent lol- well, i ain't innocent lol. I have gone to the ER a few times because i was in withdrawal but mostly i went for legit reasons. But it makes me mad that every chronic pain patient on 'E.R' and other shows are drug seekers, it pisses me off. But i guess it makes for better TV.

If you have records , and u go to the ER they cant label you, everytime, If I have to go to ER or anything, I have a note from my doctor with all that I take and his after hours contact number, of course if you just turn up to an er and go im in pain, of course they will think that
