So if someone is trying to cut their intake of H back, and they are doing it by just trying to use only when they start feeling sick, and only using enough to feel okay, not getting constantly high, would this even work? Say you are holding out to use, does your tolerance go down any, or does it just shoot back up to normal the second you use again? One time, at the end of last summer, i couldn't get any for like three days, three very shitty, shitty days (i had just moved and had to go through a friend who just creates drama, so i couldn't score). At the end of the three days it seemed that my with-drawls weren't as bad as they had been (still feeling very shitty) and i was tempted to try to ride it out longer, but once i had the opportunity to get high i couldn't resist. My question is just that, what if you WD for a little while and just use a little, just enough to not be in WD's so that you could sleep, would your tolerance just stay, or would it drop? Instead of tolerance, I think that I mean dependance. If anyone knows what i mean or has some experience with this please let me know what is up. I am very curious if you can use this as a method to cut back on using or if in the end it would all just be pointless suffering. I know that it would take tremendous self control, pretty much impossible, but for the sake of this thread Im just curious about if it was possible or not, let the self control conversations be had else where. Thanks everyone.

For sure that works!

You have to have pretty great self controll though to taper off to using nothing. But if you are planning on getting clean- Definatly cut yourself down day by day, as much as you can. It will help you a great deal.

Possiible yes, but it will come with a price. Once you have reached the daily use for awhile your body builds a need for that amount every day. If you truly want your tolerance back and to get high once or twice a week go through the withdrawl and give it a month or two. If that doesn't sound your speed slowly reducing dosage over extended time will also work but have to be vigil. Good luck!

chucky, thanks for the advice. My question is more in reference to getting off of drugs completly, not trying to fight my tolerance so that i can have better, but fewer, highs. Just to clear up what may have been not so from my original post. Thanks for the help so far.

Evolbeaver, Someone told me this once, and I wouldn't say his word was Gospel, but I kind of experienced it so maybe it is so.

You're trying to get off dope permanently. So you can go to like day 3 of withdrawl. That was my limit so I'm using that. This guy told me that when the craving was the strongest, and you used it would make it harder each time you tried to quit again. Another words like you said you went those awful three days. You scored, and were going to try to hold out a bit longer. You did it cause you were sick, and craving so next time at that junction the cravings will be worse.

I found it to be true. Wishing you well. If you would have copped, and then held out after that three days I'd say you are a super hero or something. Knowing that get well bag was in my hand I'd have used right there, and then.

I know it's antithetical to everything you hear, but I'd give it a try if I were you. I've always found that "controlled relapse" as I called what I was doing for a while is better than full-on binge behavior. You're likely to fully relapse eventually but psychologically at least, it's more satisfying to have control over your relapses. Admit that it will likely happen, and use it to keep from being dopesick, until you have the motivation to completely quit(still not there myself)

That OC avator brings back some fond memories.... It was one time described to me by a friend as we were melting into the seats of a van as being like someone is pouring warm gravy all over your body....

This is my experience, too...
