Living in NYC I am amazed and have been for the longest time now. I'm sure people in Baltimore and Philly have seen the same things. Well, H has a big draw but for people to show up all the way from the mid America, the south and Canada not knowing anyone at all and trying to cop H just because of movies and the media. I see and hear of this happening all the time. It is really amazing and baffeling (sp) to see. If you know of anyone trying to do this, please warn them that it is very well known what they are doing. There are so many beaters waiting on people just like this, so at least tell them to lie and never say they are from some other state just coming to cop. Wow? Who knows, I guess i would do the same thing if there was not anything in my town. It is just so easy to pick out. It is just wild and weird to see people in cars with Tennessee plates cruising Known neighborhoods. Oh well.

I think anyone that isn't "local" looks out of place. Me included. I'm not going to lie to myself and say I look like I fit it in North Philly. Cops aren't dumb. They know to look for the white boy cruisin' around these parts. Unfortunately the odds aren't in anyone's favor though. If you cop in the street enough, chances are you'll get caught eventually.

The best part is that out-of-towners will ask everyone on the street where they can get dope. Hold up a sign why don't you?

Oh yeah, its ridiculous and makes things hard for the locals too. I know as a NYer that I don't want to be wandering around Harlem, why would someone from out of state thing they are going to blend in and not get ripped-off, arrested, or both.

In North Philly you know that just about every white person driving through, even on some of the main streets is there for one reason only: drugs. A complete dead giveaway are out of state licenses, and before recently even out of city licenses. For a few years the registration stickers for people in Philly was different. They actually had to put up a flashcard sized piece of paper on their back window, as opposed to the small corner sticker on your plate. I'm sure all of the suburban dope fiends are glad that's changed...

Parts of North Philly scare me shitless. I just won't go there, let alone at night. That place is a zoo and you're gonna get carjacked, robbed, beat, and dragged in by the one million cops there.

Rrrrrrright...and that's why I'm not even going to drive around North Mpls where we're all supposed to be Norwegian with ludfisk on our breath, smiling all the time and offering strangers to stay the night! You know, "Minnesota Nice" That's a bunch of BS! I'd get shot just as fast here as I would in Philly!

In the Philly/Camden "drug" areas, I look very out of place...and with the out of control wild-west atmosphere of daily shootings in North Philly, its not worth your life.

I totally agree Mr Soul. As much as I like dope, I pretty much stick to pills cause the scene is sooo much more relaxed. It's done through friends and your risk of getting ripped off or caught is slim to none. I even get delivery. I might end up paying more than what dope costs, but I think it evens out in the end. You can't get high if you're ripped off or in jail, right?

True. Some people just don't think it's worth the risk to cop on the street in Philly. Remember though that a lot of people that cop there daily said the same thing at one point.

Also, don't think that you can't get arrested for copping pills...

I wasn't trying to sound condescending or anything. I know I'm not exempt from trouble. I just like my odds better without copping on the street. I've done that before and I got the shit scared outta me. For me, it just wasn't worth it. That's all. If i had a private connect, things would probably be different.

Don't worry about it, it's cool. :)

But believe it or not, it's not that bad copping out there. Sure it could be dangerous, but more often than not it's safe. The vast majority of dealers there want nothing more than repeat business and are pretty good at satisfying their customers. Shit, I've even known dealers that got rolled on for selling beat bags...

You're right though, it's a lot better to have a private connection that delivers.

I don't know what It's like now, but 10-15 years ago copping in New York or Philly was a breeze.
Of course you had to be smart, like not taking your car right up on the set, have a back or two along and until you're sure of your hook-up keep your loot well hidden. At that time the TNT wasn't too interested in what we were doing, as long as we at least made an effort to blend in with the locals. Get there early, buy a coffee, hang on the corner drinking it and jawing. The crews who ran the corners kept the rip-offs at bay. That shit is bad for business. Once we found what we needed, usually the rest took place off of the street in a safe spot. These guys didn't want pagers and phone numbers, they wanted to see who they were dealing with. Once business was done, we'd take our time being escorted out of the neighborhood and on our way home well before noon.
Too bad that it's changed so much for the worse.
A junkie's life is hard enough without everybody out to fuck up the corner.

Yeah it can be dangerous copping but even here in "the most dangerous city in america"(saint Louis MO) the dopemen try to look out for the customers it is just good business. They whistle and yell when "the boys"(cops) are on the block. The only time you run into trouble is if you do something stupid like the time my friend got us carjacked by stopping at the wrong spot when I nodded out in the car.
