Not too long ago my work decided to participate in a "drug free fair" that the local elementary school was hosting. They basically asked companies in area to sponsor it. Well, one of the VP's decided that I had to attend this event, on a Saturday no less! Not exactly my idea of a fun. So the magical day arrives and I wake up, get high, and drive to work early. If I'm already going to be a hypocrite, I might as well do it in style, right?

As I'm setting up our table display, I see the local cops working on their setup. I'm curious, so i walk over to check it out. THEY HAVE A BRIEFCASE FILLED WITH EVERY DRUG IMAGINABLE!!!! I mean they had acid, weed, meth, dope, pills, shrooms, pcp, the works. Everything was laid out with labels so all the kids could "identify" each drug if they ever saw it. WTF???? You'd think they were junkies teaching "the trade." I wanted to run with that briefcase sooo bad! I wonder how far I would have gotten.... My mouth was watering to say the least. I thought that Saturday was going to suck, but I got a goofy drug free t-shirt (I love) and a peek at the holy grail.

Has anyone else seen the local cops break out one of these briefcases? Just curious

I use to work at a hospital that had one of those super charged
incineraters and one day the cops ( in plain clothes ) drive up with
like two trash bags full of ALL kinds of shit and they just started
throwing it in a little at a time. Ohhh the Pain ... the Pain !

Yeh, those breifcases are pretty cool little collections. Except, I don't think any of the dope is real. Even if it was, the case they I remember from elementary school had peyote (or something that looked like it) in it but only a small button even if it was real it was no where near enough to trip on. I can't see any reason why the cops would need to carry the real thing around instead of look alikes. The potential psycological impact these type of "anti"-drug programs could have on people especially, children, is terrifying. I dont want to knock the original poster but, by going along with their stupid little act, and pretending to be one of them, or atleast someone who is not vehemently opposed to their(the cops/ war on drug advocates etc.) agenda; you are helping to advance it. Please, stand up and be counted. Be proud of who you are. I'm not saying to walk up to the cops and introduce yourself as a junky. But, running a table at the "anti"-drug fair and getting paid for it?

No offense, but I really didn't have much of a choice. I'm not about to quit my job over a kiddie drug free parade. Do you think I should have told my boss I'm not going because I'm pro drugs? No thanks. I wouldn't have a job and I wouldn't have money for DRUGS. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I'm not you.

Just please just chill out. You're ruining the spirit of this post. There's a section for the piss & moan.

Thanks for all the fun stories everybody! I wish the cops were taking take out orders that day. I'll have two of each, thank you.

the dope in the cases are probably fake but it is nice to dream right. I think mrklean just needs to take a deep breath and count to ten. I serve food to cops all day long and I am extra nice to them so that when they see me they don't pull me over. (the spit and ball sweat they don't see or notice)Pretty much the same as working at an anti drug table only ahh different.

I remember that case from when I was in 7th grade and the pigs came in and did the whole nancy reagan just say no thing.

They did that when I was in school as well and sometimes had a demonstration with the drug dogs where they would set up several piles of junk and hide a bag of weed under one and let the dog sniff it out to show all the kids how it worked... I also seen cops have a display at a mall once with that magical display briefcase of drugs and I started at it for like 15 minutes and they started looking at me funny so I had to leave, but I always used to dream about what it would be like if I ever found that briefcase on the side of the road or something...good times...

There is a movie that is kind of old about 2 guys that found a briefcase with every drug in it like that and they show throughout the movie how they react while on each one. The way they make the screen look while one of the guys is trippin on acid is perfect to what it looks like. I can't remember the name though, maybe someone knows it...Anyone???

I wasn't yelling out any "just say no" slogans or anything and I'm not even sure you could even consider my table anti-drug. We had just had finger painting for 5 year olds and thats about it. I'd do it again to see that case one more time. I'm not convinced they were fake. That weed looked damn real to me. It's a hell of a lot easier to fake bags of dope anyway.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that is what you were doing. Frankly I don't really care what it was you were doing as long as it was positive for the kids. One of my best friends is a teacher for troubled/challenged kids and we do as Nick would put it "our thing" whenever we ain't working and he is one of the only teachers at that school who gets through to them. That doesn't mean I am going to tell him suck my fucking dick because you are getting high with me that is just stupid. I support it and think we need more people like us to get future generations to open up, be smart about there decisions and be open minded

Back in the early nineties, my wife and I accompanied our kids to an "open house-meet the teachers" gig at the middle school where we were (the kids AND us) pretty well known and the kids were loved by the school inhabitants. Wife and I toked up on some good shit we had harvested earlier and didn't really realize we stunk as much as we did. Accidentally stumbled into a classroom that had one of those DARE exhibits and they had Sparky the drug dog there who immediately went apeshit around us. Fortunately we were not holding anything and the two teachers, seeing how freaked and then indignant we got, made the cop take his damn dog outside. We've made a conscious effort never to cross paths again.

Same reply to you as well, Opi. I know this guy knows what he is talking about when he tells me that the drugs on display are real. Makes one drool all the more. Maybe a person could take a duplicate case and pull a "switcheroo" when packing up? Probably not a good idea but fun to contemplate! Tonyk

I know of at least one case where the cops came into a high school for a presentation with one of those suitcases, and drugs were stolen from them, and the kids that did it got away with it! Needless to say, the cops were extremely pissed, and everyone got searched, but... They never found the drugs. This happened about 25 years ago, and the only thing that was taken was some pot, but they did get close to a pound, and anyway doesn't it just warm your heart that this actually happened at least once? True story, no lie.

Well, I could tell you the town and the school and the approximate date, but would that really mean anything to you? Ultimately I think you're either going to have to believe me or not. I know it's true because, while it didn't happen at my high school, I did hear about it at the time and after I graduated I became good friends with people who were there and who helped smoke the proceeds. Trust me, it happened.

To be honest, even though the statute of limitations has long since passed I'm a little bit nervous about giving out too much detail about this particular theft online. These people are still friends of mine and cops have a LONG memory when it comes to stuff like this. Tell you what, if you really want details you can PM me and I'll tell you what I know.

The way it was told to me was that the pot wasn't actually in the suitcase with all the other drugs, it was in a separate bag. I have no idea why that was so, or why they were carrying so much of it, but knowing these cops in this particular town I suspect they had probably just seized it recently and wanted to show off a bit. Supposedly after they did their presentation on the evils of drugs they folded up the suitcase and put the pot into a separate bag, and then somehow on their way out of the classroom they put that bag down for a second by the door. A second was all it took, and some enterprising passing student grabbed the pot and ran off down the hallway while the cop was looking elsewhere - perhaps the officer turned back into the room to answer one last question, I don't really know (although I could probably find out even that detail if I asked). When the cops discovered the stuff was gone, they naturally went apeshit and searched everybody and everything, but the perpetrator was never caught. The pot was eventually sold and ended up being smoked by a significant percentage of the student body, or so I'm told.

This is how the story was told to me by someone who was present that day, and I genuinely believe it to be true, more or less. Damn, those kids had balls, back then!

I agree it's a great story, and if it wasn't true someone would have had to invent it. But as I said I really think it's true, since I heard about it (many times!) from more than one source, and none of these guys has any motive to lie. And for that matter neither do I.

Those guys with the dogs have the real thing for sure, I have seen a couple of demo’s, one of them was a coke sniffing dog that found a bag that looked to be at least an oz of coke. Now that would have been fun to watch them loose that bag, but then you would have to outsmart that dog, and they are definitely better trained than the cops.

Cool man thanks, it has been probably 15 years since I've seen this movie and back then I didn't know who Johnny Depp was... The movie was not necessarily the greatest story in the world but thats not what makes it interesting really, watching them do each type of drug was interesting enough to keep you watching. Don't really remember what all they did in it any more but they had multiple different things and I was for real about the screen effects, when they are trippin' the screen (your vision while watching) is very close to that while really trippin'... Well I always thaught it was cool how they did it anyways and they have very old school drugs too. I mean the acid is paper but it is a BIG sheet (got to be at least 15-20 hits if not more) and he puts it all in his mouth and TRIPS BALLS, he is in another world, like thinks his friend is a soldier in war or something... Can't remember that much more but check it out...

Thanks for the title and to anyone interested in watching it just call a few video stores until you find it in stock, thats what we did back when we watched it...

its an awesome movie, i wants me some of that adrenochrome, anyone wanna donate? c'moonnn it wont hurt THAT much.

Fear & Loathing rocks, beautifully acted by Johnny Depp and Benecio Del Toro (you cant argue with the academy) and equally well written by the late great Hunter S Thompson.

RIP hunter s thompson, there was an article in the latest User's News or maybe it was Tracks i cant remember which, about the night he committed suicide . Apparently he was booted from an MSN depression chat room for, get this, being DEPRESSED. a great mans cry for help was ignored. he put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. the person he was chatting with was a fellow aussie, who swallowed all her pills. luckily however Hunter had friends who knew enough about what was going on to organise, from accross the seas in the US, an ambulance for Hunter's aussie friend. the medics saved her (i think it was a her) alas tho for mr thompson it was too late.

Yep yep, me too. They were so colorful! :p

Seriously though, DARE has been proven to do no good and possible harm (as far as making kids not want to use drugs). I guess from a harm-reduction POV, maybe people who end up doing drugs are better off having at least a vague idea of their effects.

And looks like it was already answered...

YUP. same here. I had that program where the cops came into my elementary school and gave us the Nancy Reagan "just say no" to drugs.. I was in 7th or 8th grade at the time and it was in the early 80s maybe 1982ish. sometime around then..

anyway, after that presentation, I was obsessed with drugs.. I was using tobacco before I was out of junior high, and had already used snuff tobacco (we had a mini epidemic for nasal snuff in junior high !).

I remember it clearly. I was one of the computer geeks (I ran the computer lab at school, these were trs-80s and we had a single hard drive. it was 1 MB in size). well, the principal and teachers came to me to ask if I had heard of anyone offering or using snuff. . little did they know i had a can on me,. :)

so yes. it started young.. and I knew I was different even back then... i smoked weed my first time at 13... and now shoot dope every day.. I think if I was NEVER shown those drugs back them I might not have ever used.. cops got me hooked, by trying to keep me clean.. STUPID. just like the war on drugs..

Has anyone else seen the local cops break out one of these briefcases? Just curious
When I was in 5th or 6th grade, they got all the "at risk" youths(bad kids) together and showed us the same shit and gave us a "just say no" speech. Needless to say, some kid stole the weed and they had to pat everyone down. I was like what the fuck did you expect to happen?

I remember it clearly. I was one of the computer geeks (I ran the computer lab at school, these were trs-80s and we had a single hard drive. it was 1 MB in size). well, the principal and teachers came to me to ask if I had heard of anyone offering or using snuff. . little did they know i had a can on me,. :)

so yes. it started young.. and I knew I was different even back then... i smoked weed my first time at 13... and now shoot dope every day.. I think if I was NEVER shown those drugs back them I might not have ever used.. cops got me hooked, by trying to keep me clean.. STUPID. just like the war on drugs..

oh yeah, it was the cops' fault you got high
you sure it wasn't your parents' fault? the dea's fault? your mean older sister's fault?
some random unproven disease's fault? (addiction, paws, eds)

i'm pretty sure that everyone gets high because we wanna
can't go around blaming other people

Yeah-- when I was a kid they had the DARE people come around with cops and they had that briefcase full of every kind of drug...... I remember it sparked my curiosity and gave me an idea of what each drug looked like! I don't know... I don't know if those briefcase's are helping at all.....

i can't prove it and wouldn't want to
since i'm sure he doesn't want his name out here in relation to this
but a close friend of mine stole the suitcase in high school
he took what he wanted from it, gave it to [a girl] to hide in her "secret hiding place"
and then stashed the suitcase containing the rest of the drugs
in the bushes outside the school

the dare cop called 5 or 6 other cops for backup
and searched the shit out of the entire student body:
locker checks, backpacks turned inside out, pat-downs, etc
finally one cop found the half empty suitcase
and i think finding it half empty was worse for them than not finding it at all
because after finding it, the cops were even more pissed
saying that if anyone had any information on 'this immoral theft'
to call some anonymous # that they gave us,
and we didn't have to give our names, it might save a life, blah blah blah
my friend and his female "mule" were never caught

and yes, the drugs inside were real...
or so he said, i wouldn't know of course ;)

We didn't have the briefcase show, but they gave us booklets with shots of different drugs and their slang names. That was my first introduction to drugs and it was my bible.
