So I'm working today in the Day Surgery Suite at the Hospital and the nurse gave me 4 full syringes still capped and told me to dispose of them (Take them to Environmental and put them in the Sharps box to be incinerated).

Now I could have very easily put them in my pocket, or even walked them out to my car and put them in the glovebox. I wouldn't have gotten caught (unless they reviewed security camera footage). The problem was I had no idea what the drugs were. I no they were controlled substances (probably Schedule II) because the nurse needed to use the Pyxis to pull them for Surgery. They were given to the Anesthesiologist(sp), so I'm pretty sure they are used to induce "Twilight Sleep".

I didn't want to take them because I don't want to risk my job on something that may be potentially useless to me or that may just make me sleep (or kill me).

The meds were called : Sublimaze and Midalprozalam (sp ) ??? Anyone ever heard of them. What are they? are they useable recreationally?

The sublimaze is fentanyl, used by anestesiologists (sp), it will not produce euphoria per say, but it will make you sleep, pass out is more like it. This is very dangerous though, because you dont know the dose. It could be for a huge 600 pound man, lets say, then you go and blast it...and bam....you never wake up.
If i remember correctly the iv sublimaze dosages are so fucking small, because it's very powerfull. The other one is some kind of knock out benzo, i believe, used again by anestesiologists. These two drugs dont have much recreational value in my book, you made the right choice by ditching them.
Someone please chime in.... if im wrong on these?

You did the right thing geting rid of them. In fact sounds like it could have been a test. I have never seen any Sched II meds disposed of without a witness to co -sign. Everything has to be accounted for and signed off for disposal. I know I would never jeapordize my license by handing off meds to anyone that I had signed out.
