My dad has cancer so I have been reading alot.
Anyone ever heard of a "Bromptons Cocktail"? It is a mixture of cocaine and morphine alkaloids they give to people in nursing homes.
Reminds me of the cocktails Hitler mad that was a mixture of morphine an methamphetamine to get his soldiers to March (goose step style), not walk. For 50 miles without stopping. I've heard of numerous hitler and meth stories but this intrigued me.
Any info ?
Thanks

I've been given liuqid pain cocktails for the same reason. Although they did not have cocaine in them. Never heard if it either in all my yers of working as a nurse, Is your Dad in the US?? I'd be facinate to learn more. What is the purpose of the caine suppose to be?
Cherry flavoured.I believe it was cherry flavoured.
The good old days huh.
Let's not forget Dovers powders.

Yeah we are in Kansas City kansas. Cocaine is schedule 2. For nose and throat surgeries. My guess is that if youare in a hospice
\1.)you are waiting to die, thats what a hospice is
2.) they just want you to feel as comfortable as u can be before you die.
I am goingto do some more research PM me if ya find something out.
What kind of liquid pain cocktails do you give?

Hi Rex,
Years and years ago, probably in the late 80's and early 90's, I was on the mixture. At that time it was called, "Hospice Mix." It was Morphine, Cocaine and Alcohol. (Flip, the Cocaine was added to help counteract the sedating effects of the Morphine and Alcohol). The Cocaine was removed from the mix around the middle of the 90's and was replaced with Amphetamines. The mix was VERY hard on the tummy but it worked really good for my pain. The amount of Morphine that was in the mix was prescribed by the doc so it could be titrated for any given patient. It got to be too hard on my tummy so I was switched to Dilaudid...also worked good but still kinda rough on the G.I. Tract.
Hope your Dad gets whatever pain relief he needs as he goes through this really tough time.

Mom

You are my role model for being on exotic/massive amounts of opiates. Nothing like having some morph, coke, and booze when you're in pain.
Just imagine if that shit was OTC. Nothing like polydrug addiction...

It used to be.
Oh and if you mix booze and C,it makes a whole new drug called coca ethyl.

That mixture reminds me of what we did for a while in 70 or 71. We called them red and blacks, think abbott labs made them, but they were dexedrine, I think, and methaqualone. Take one to start and two to go with some Southern Comfort and you could drive from Atlanta to Tucumcari NM and only stop for gas.

sounds great, should top the dex/ludes combo of the late 70's
and a good way to cure a toothache

It's served with a little pink umbrella.
I didn't think it was dispensed in the US.
