i've switched from opiates to suboxone on more than one occasion and i can tell you that i waited until i was sick to get on the sub, but i didn't wait until i was in agony. i actually just woke up sick (and did enough dope to sleep through the night) with the chills and whatnot around 5am, and then did my first amount of bup around 6 or 7.

how long does it take you in going without before you actually start to get ill (chills, cramping, etc?)

I know those who haven't waited long enough, and they've been in agony for hours, however I would totally feel comfortable in telling you to just make sure you're a little sick going in, not full blown DT's. you can always take more and more sub to 'push through' the withdrawal if some where to come on, but don't overdo it.

Just know your body; don't go in and make the switch knowing you're not sick enough, but don't go in not having slept through Sunday night because you're in full blown withdrawals....

relax - nothing to worry about. you'll feel totally normal, except emotionally; it's kind of a wild ride in that area, but a real kick. i like it, personally.....

good luck - come back and tell us how it went...

i should add to this that most doctors are very reluctant to start anyone out until they're visibly ill. i'm guessing the training materials provided to them emphasize the need for absolute and total withdrawal before administering the drug, although you can 'push through' with more buprenorphine if needed, even though it's not all that pleasant.

i've gone in before and 'faked' being in total dt's. don't get me wrong, i was definitely sick, and would never make an attempt at switching without being sick, but in having done this a few times, i'd never personally wait so long as to be in panic mode about it. having the running nose, the chills, and a bit of the bone crunch is enough for me....

i had two buprenorphine detoxes and both times after 1 or 2 shots i go into immediate withdrawels and refuse any more b shots, after the lastcold turkey i swore id go to church every day never mind weekends just get me through this cold turkey but alas once home within a week well you know what happen............

the reason you're going through immediate withdrawals from the buprenorphine is because you didn't wait long enough after your last dose of H. buprenex just kicks that shit right out of your receptors, leaving you with 30% of your manhood, which isn't much coming down from 1000%.

fuck that cold turkey shit. my respect goes out to those that can do it, me i've had my own fair share of the big kick in the raw - but never again. there's just too many options out there now.

so the big question - are we better off now because it's easier to kick, or are we worse off because it's so much EASIER to kick....?

Made the mistake of taking some bupe a few hours early after doing herion and I felt like crap. I mean it sent me into full blown withdrawals for a few hours. Then no matter how much sub I took I still felt crapy for the next 3 days. For me sub is really good somedays and not so good other days.
