The title of this post, I realize, may be somewhat confusing. What I
am hoping to find out is what is the LONGEST amount of time that
anyone had abstained from smoking buds and still tested positive
for it.

Is there anyone who has tested positive after not doing it after
28 days? 35 days? Who holds the, um, "record" for this?

SWIM takes a whiz quiz on Thursday 10/27 and will have not smoked any
weed for 32 days. Of course, SWIM's consumption pattern was
heroic before that - he was a thrice (or more) a day consumer of
cannabis. SWIM plans to not give them the first whiz o' the day,
and to have consumed a fair bit of water before the test. SWIM
will also ratchet up his multivitamin consumption a bit on that
day.

Ok, who holds the record?

Sorry, I don't have the record breaker, thankfully.

I DO have a drug testing story, though, that might add to your knowledge base about the subject.

Back in 1990, I got a Summer job working at the Pentagon, and needed to get a temporary top secret clearance. I had to take a drug test, of course, but I was a daily smoker (not tobacco) at that time in my life. I quit smoking for about a month, 29 or 30 days, and then "broke down" and got high for like 3 days in a row, only a week before my urine test.

I was very nervous about flunking the test, but I passed. I guess it was because my system was pretty well cleaned out before I went and smoke for those three days. I doubt you could pass a test after only a week of abstinence, after being a daily smoker for an extended period of time.

You'll be fine as long as you go a month without it.

Thanks Zoop! I think I am a pretty fast metabolizer, but
who knows for sure. I'm 5'9", 185 lbs and have been very
physically active during the last month (yard work, house
work), I hope that helps.

Anybody else? I read one on BlueLight where a dude (a
really big dude, 250lbs) still tested positive after a period
of like 9 weeks. Of course, he 'fessed up to smoking 6x
per day of the finest bud prior to that. Damn, that's some
slow metabolism. He admitted to being very heavy for
his height and wasn't very active...

I'd like to talk to you about that sometime as I'd love to get a clearance. I thought they would check with your friends and family and whatnot to ascertain past drug use?

My understanding, from what I learned from an old co-worker
who had such a clearance for the long term (designing missile
guidance systems) was that yes, they do talk to many people
in your past, and ask a lot of very probing questions - they want
to know it all to size up if you are a risk for blackmail (among
other things).

I recently read that for federal employment (FBI, CIA) they have been
having a tough time finding prospective employees who have
never so much as taken a toke - which I why they have recently
considered raising the limit to having smoked buds to like 15 times
or less... Other types of federal employment are much
more lenient with that sort of thing.

I hope I haven't remembered any of this incorrectly............

Depending on the sophisticattion of the test one could show up posative months after smoking because THC is fat soluble and takes along time to leave... (I laughed hard when I found out my Provices Addiction "People" have made smoking 3 or 4 times per week the new definition of "chronic smoker"LOL so what does that make me super duper chronic!!haha- I guess this is because thats all one would have to smoke to prevent their body from ever getting rid of ALL the THC - so you'd be building increasing stockpiles in your fat smoking that ammount)
However the non water solubiltity can apparently work to ones advantage because I've heard of people (who were not "clean") pass THC tests simply by drinking huge amounts of water (like 20 glasses) for lhalf a day or more before the test, so when they piss there is so much water working through their system that any quatity of (not water soluble) THC is negligable.

Of course this isn't a sure way to pass but if your concerned you haven't been long enough without I sure this would increase your chances of passing!!

P.S. can't you (americans) buy that stuff you drink a certian time before to test negative? Pretty much every "head shop" in Canada sells it, and I do know one friend who used it successfully (too bad he was "wasting" a bed in an addiction centre at the time - It sucks when people abuse those places just to please their P.O. and get out of jail faster)
