What can be done about veins hardening up (and staying that way for weeks) at an injection site?
(Right above the injection site, to be more specific)
Is that due to scarring? I know about using clean, new needles every time and rotating injection sites- but what else can be done?
Thanx in advance for any helpful answers!

Most likely it is scarring. If it goes away, it could be phlebitis, inflammation and/or irritation. The only thing you can do is rotate and use brand new, never, ever used needles. If you are getting this and you think you are rotating, you are not giving it long enough to heal. I know it's not always an option, but if it can be avoided give them longer to heal!

Try Hirudoid cream to soften up veins.

Repeated injections to the site, inflammation and irritation caused by additives in the dope.
As was said, rotate those veins and sites. Veins below the belly button will become hardened much faster than above, due to decreased circulation.
Also, after repeated use, veins will lose their elasticity, making them weak and more likely to collapse causing hardening.
