Inpatient Rehab - Tips/Advice

So next weekend I have to sign myself into an inpatient rehab program due to a recent legal problem. I have more than a few freinds that have been in the same situation before, and I have heard quite a bit about it, but I figure there are probably a good amount of people here that have been too and could help shed some light on the subject. Just general advise and what to expect; I know alot of that is depends on the facility you sign yourself into too though. Anyways, this place doesn't know the full extent of my drug abuse and due to my probation and the possibility of shit going on my legal record they can't find out; they don't know I'm physically addicted to Opaites. I've been on bupe for awhile now and in order to not get sick there, where I will almost undoubtedly be spotted with my PO being informed, I will have to sneak a small supply in. Really, so long as everything goes right, I will only be there for 3 days. So at 2mg a day 1 8mg pill should be all I have to smuggle in... I'm not really too worried about that. The thing that sucks is that if I don't sneak it in and get dope sick in there I will most likely not be released on the 3rd day, like I am supposed to. I don't want to be there any longer than I have to, and I certainly don't want to go 2 or 3 days without my subs in this ghetto ass rehab that doesn't medicate withdrawl symptoms. I don't need any advise on getting 1 pill into detox, but any tips on anything else inpatient rehab related will definately be apprieciated.

Stay away from the poonani. Chances are very high they have some STD or are just really fucked up in the head (duh). Try to find one you don't mind spending the $ on, make sure they're able to satisfy whatever needs you may have (Phone calls at anytime, etc). There are even some that allow you to make your own food, which is cool. They take you to the grocery store and shit..Other advice..hmm...Try to get the most out of it, afterall you are paying alot for that shit.

I don't get to pick where I am going, I have to go to one of the most shitty rehabs around my area... it sucks, and it is expensive. I think I'll stay away from the poon; I wonder if I can take my cell phone or not? Find out soon I guess.

I am not sure what kind of facility it is but try to bullshit a lot. what I mean by that is participate in the group discussions. Sometimes they are step down programs that its your attitude that gets you out faster. You prolly already know but they will 99% chance hit you with a piss quiz so give yourself a few clean days. Also bring some sort of sandles to wear in the shower if you are a freak about foot fungus like I am in public showers. good luck there mang.

Keep your cigarettes in your pocket and carry all your shit worth a damn. Always be on your "last" of whatever it is, smokes, candy, money, whatever. And hell fuck it some of the best one nighters have been detox romances...Seriously though, if its just a 3 day deal (never heard of one that short, must be a shit ass deal, imagine if you really were going in to kick...) just keep your shit to yourself (as in words, stories, drugs, anything). You'll meet some good people and you'll meet some fuckers always trying to run some game. And you may even meet a connect or two. Many detoxes I've been in there's been dealers (and not junky dealers supporting their own habit, I mean businessmen) who are there only to build their customer base. But if its a really ghetto ass 3 day detox as you said there probably won't be all that much in the way of touch feely group therapy what's heard here stays here bullshit. I'll trust a bunch of strangers as soon as I start trusting, well, strangers. As long as you got your subs, and your behavior reasonably matches your story (ie, if your cutting out a meth habit, act fucking tired, no shit right) although you obviously realize that. What story are you giving them if not opes?

Well you're a fairly young guy so you shouldn't have to worry about having 30 year alcohol habit DT's and shit. Make a pain in the ass of yourself at night with the nurses vis a vis benzos and insomnia and all that shit. Maybe you'll actually get some benzos, they always make those mind numbing places more bearable.

I couldn't possibly add anything more in terms of advice. Poon and Robo have really covered it all. Sounds like perfect advice..based on my experience in rehab/detox.

So I'll just say Good luck and my thoughts will be with you. You're a smart guy..you shoud have no problem working the system...to your advantage.

If you have an alcohol problem - first and foremost, the rehab has a legal issue. Alcohol Detox and Benzo detox are the only ones, even in the jails, have to act on for fear of death. Going in, claiming to be an alcholic - they will worry about seizures. More than likely give you Librium, which is.. in my experience.. Jails and Ghetto Detox centers use most often. (Then usually valium - with it's long half life. When I was in overflow pod.. they had a lot of junkies and alchies coming me... the med nurse ususally brought clonodine and immodium for the opiate people.. and the alcoholics got valium or Librium. You'll more than likely get that. So your PO thinks you just drink? It's all hush hush about your opiate addiction? My ammount of subs I had left is so low I'm able to skip 36hrs periods and longer with much ease. 24mg per day down to 2mg then nothing is going just fine right now) Infact, it's been 48 now - and I've taken a xanax but feel completely dt free.

Play the alcohol card, get your sub in there, and maybe mention something about worrying about a seizure from alcohol - read somewhere about the internet - that won't happen will it? If your allowed to, tell them you've had a seizure before from an alcohol detox. That'll plant the seed and get you benzos.

You'll be fine. Other than that, in the Buckley Center in Eugene, OR. alot of these ghetto detox centers had homeless people who would go in just to get three hots and a cot, and some free drugs while there. You'll more than likely be, if it's a detox center , have mens dorm with a row of beds, a common area with TV and movies that will be co-ed (nothing else is, men only if it's a men only place then obviously) and a kitchen area.

They'll feed you some meetings too. My detox at Firststep in sarasota, did the librium route, and was very similar to the buckley center. Of course, I went into a 28 day inpat. rehab before.. and it was quite fancy. I'm rambling..

I didn't read the "doesn't medicate for withdrawal" part right.. but, alcohol is another story. I think they LEGALLY have too - throw in something about having a seizure before - and they'll want to cover their butts legality wise.

Just got out 2 weeks inpatient rehab fer benzos. Wasnt court ordered but more of a medical issue so I really dont know if there the same schmeer. But there was no way of sneakin anything in there dude. No way in my experience. They treated me with Lamictal and Dilantin to counteract my seizure and wouldnt let me smoke or dip. 1 hour a day contact via telephone and visiting days were anyday until 9pm. It was just like a regular hospital almost. All in all not bad experience and it got me off em
