So today I was prescribed 300mg Ultram ER, I hear some good things, some bad things, just trying to get a general consensus on them. I'll be picking them up on Friday, so I am going to be reading a lot about them too.

i only have taken tramadol 50mg, i don't know much about the ER stuff but i'll give you my two cents. erowid has some good user experience reports too.

for me i get a mood lift and slight speedy feeling at higher doses of 400+mg. my tolerance has not gone up in the two years i have taken them (daily) i hang around 300mg. they mix well with tylenol keeping in mind to watch the amount taken of that.

reports have people trouble urinating at first, i was like that and it went away after a couple of weeks but i won't suggest drinking a bunch of liquids cause it can get distressing if you haven't experienced it. rejports of siezures from some here on site at 400- 500+ mg.

hope that helps some, good luck friend

Well my new doc apparently read my chart and scripted accordingly as he, without my intervention upped my hydro (and eluded to a stronger IR if that stops working) and gave me the highest Ultrams :) I just don't want to be all screwed up if I "accidently" chew one or two.

SWIM's got a pretty big tolerance and doesn't really feel any effects of tramadol (normally ultram 50mgs) even when 2-3 are chewed....but I do hear they're good to have around when dealing with w/ds

I tried those once and they didnt do very much. They ones I had were blue and yellow maybe? It was a couple of years ago so its hard to remember exactly.

They were 50mg each. 2 didnt do much so later i tried 2 more and then finally another 2 and that was it. They werent bad but they werent great either. I hope your careful with new stuff!

I'm actually uber paranoid when trying new meds, especially in a reacreational capacity. The first time I had a 800mcg Actiq and a couple hydros I was worried I was going to die from all the stuff I read about Fent :P Unfortunately now they are merely a good boost to any other opiates I have.

when i first started pain management in florida they gave me ultrams...they give me a lil buzz if i take enough but they make me nautious and anxious...and i was only prescribed the 50mg ones...hubby takes em by the handful when we run into em..eats so many he makes himself puke half the time...they are kinda sucky but awesome for w/d's if you don't take too many of em...because we made that mistake b4 and we ended up goin thru worst w/d's with ultram (tramadol).

The first few times I took Ultram, I took it with hydro. It seemed to make the hydro last longer. Times after that, I took it solo when I was really hurting...and it made me feel awful.

However, this could've been due to some medication interactions. Ultram increases what's known as "anti-cholinergic" effects..so if you're taking another anti-cholinergic (e.g., certain mood stabilizers, allergy medications), be careful with the Ulram.

I avoid that shit at all costs.

Why? I'd like to hear the good and the bad.

If you have a picture of ABG in your signature, I wouldn't be looking forward to the tramadol, my 3 cents

way back when.....

back when i was still willing to try getting off on these, they were too "speedy" for me. then i would ALWAYS (no matter what the doseage) wake up with the dry heaves for about an hour the next morning. this led me to the inevitable conclusion that i'll hafta be pretty damn desperate (and amnesiatic) if i ever take 'em again. but that's just my experience...

i hope you have better luck with them than me, and play safe!

good for withdrawals, they induce seizures in some people, especially at high doses (over 500mg) a day I believe

Highly dissapointing. They aren't even effecting the pain the are supposed to.

yeah when i was prescribed ultram to me it seemed like the speedy effects from the drug made me more alert and more aware of the pain i was in. I tried to tell the dr. that and he said I was just trying to get a narcotic and said it was ultram or nothing. I took nothing and went to the streets

My doc seems pretty cool, we even discussed that narcotics were pretty much one of the only things that helped, and he pushed my lortabs up to 10's, I don't know what the next up would be, probably one of hte MS ER's?
