View Full Version : Active Topics -vs- New Posts

With the new upgrade, a feature has been added which marks each post read or unread, per user. Before the change, our customized 'Active Topics' drop-down would simply search for all new or updated threads within X amount of time. The 'New Posts' option actually marks off each post as read, much like an email application or RSS reader would do.
Which feature do you use most? The 'Active Topics' dropdown or the 'New Posts'?
Also, any search features you'd like to see in addition to the before mentioned?

I am on so much, I use the Statistics--Recent posts at the bottom of the Forums page most often.
It is really convenient!

New Posts is good for me. IF there are none that are worth reading, I usually know it pretty fast. Like when Somni is talking about browning things I'm out.
Other times I just go to forum rules and study them for a while. That keeps me pretty busy.

Hovadagod, I'm grateful for the information which PK and Somni have given me regarding 'browning'. I never thought I'd see the day.......but here I am!!
Take care all.

I have the New Posts URL bookmarked so that's the first thing I see when I drop by the site, and can quickly open all the updated threads in new browser tabs for quick skimming....

I'm with him, except no bookmark... but that is a good idea. Thanks exitwound!

Typically all I use are the "new posts" option and browse the "recent threads" section. (I really like the "new posts" feature, and use it all the time.)
