My grandmother - in her mid-80's - has been addicted to opiates (biiiiiig doses, enough tylenol to kill an elephant) for 50 years or more. Prior to finding codeine in the 60s (she's an RN, retired now) she used barbituates. I cannot believe her liver hasn't melted out of her body, but nope, she's going strong, thank God. I curse her for the addict genes I inherited, but by the same token, I guess I hope I inherited the "drugs can't kill me" genes, too. viva la granny! you give us all hope!

This gives me an idea about posting an "Addict Family Tree" thread. I got it from both sides of my family... I'm at least a third generation opiate addict, with alcholism and other addictions thrown in the tree, too.

I knew an old lady who lived in a nursing home. She was my friends great grandmother granny Dorry. Her name was Dorothy but the staff called her demerol Dot because she took so much demerol for so long they just kept giving it to her because she was 80 at least. It would have been worse for her if they stopped. They also had to give her halsion every night or she wouldnt sleep.

Im pretty sure she was one of those people who always takes something and not just for pain relief.

Great clip man.. Fun to watch unfortunately the older guy I know is 58 years old..Wouldn't it be fun though..
I always thought h and opiates are the best alcohol for pensioners. After retiring and sex is not the game anymore best drug is h and opiates and coke time to time..

Hi everyone-I,m new to posting and generally new to computers as well-kinda a lapsed Luddite? This is my first post and I hope to be able to contribute. You guys are really fun to read. I might be considered elderly, might not-but I'm 57 and have a 40 year run with separate realities. First intro'd to H in 1972 when junkie and speed freak were the ultimate put downs by others. Secretly loved it, but didn't pursue it much because it was hard to get and there was so much other stuff out there. But since about '85, opiates been my DOC. Mostly scripted shit but love to do the other when opportunity arises. Am hoping to get back later on, this is a great place when I'm off and when I'm feeling bad. Thanks

William Burroughs is a great example.
actually most old people are junkies, they're the ones that get all of the goodies prescribed legally.
