frankly, this dude needs to STOP doing blow and oxys and see a doctor/go to the ER fast.

when you say his face is "stuck" do you mean paralyzed?

Could be a sinus infection or some other type that's got involved with his facial motor nerve? Hemifacial paralysis..... it looks awful but usually not that serious.

Snorting in long term can cause damage nose's capillary and eventually sinusitis and all these can cause breathing problem of course doc would be the best things to say but sea water spreys can help if used everynight before sleeping.
saying these only from my experiences and I bloody know that irritating noise a friend of mine kills me when he nodds and starts making the noise and whats worst he fucking denies it..

When one side of somebody's face becomes paralyzed it may be a condition known as "bells palsy." Most of the time it goes away on its own, but it can be permanant like Jim Ross's face from the WWE. Steroids may also be used to treat it. What kind of "irritating sound" does your friend make? that sounds kind of funny.

edit: maybe your friends sound comes from tourettes syndrome?

^^No it doesn't fit Tourett's.

Hell it could be anything from a sinus infection to something more serious. Either way..you should be seeing a dcotor about this .

I'm sure Candy will be along soon to offer her expertise.

First off, I think your friend is past OTC meds and needs some help from an ENT. Many complications come from prolonged use; Scar tissue, necrosis, chronic inflammation and chronic sinus infections.

I don't understand that one side of his face is stuck. It could be from erosion of the septum that leads to a collapse of the structures that hold your nose in its position.
Necrosis as I mentioned is often a cause as well to erode other structures as the necrosis spreads, affecting the appearance of the face.

This sounds serious and while he may be hesistant to go to the hospital or doctor, I think your friend needs to just go and be seen before the damage is irreversible.
That he cannot breath from one side could be due to inflammation and collapse of the septum. The noise is from trying to breath air in from a small opening I would imagine/

This is all just suggestion and being a nurse, I can only suggest that he seek medical attention right away, but at this point, I would really believe OTC's are not going to help!

Good luck to your friend!

When one side of somebody's face becomes paralyzed...

I think by saying "one side of his face is stuck" the OP only meant that his friend can't breath out of one nostril, which is always 'stuck', or stopped up. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant. Right, cartone?

Anyways, that happened to me once. The cause was a nasal polyp, which had to be surgically removed.

yeah he cant breath from one notstil. the noise the guy makes is like a sucking/pulling snot noise, its hard to explain but its not normal. anywayz, i herd of some product called Hydro pulse nose cleaner type thing. would it help him? he said he went to doctors and they dont know whats wrong, he hasnt told them he used candy and probably doesnt plan on it. he does use those saltwater sprays but it doesnt clear it up. to whatever doctors out there, do u know of any prescriptions out there?

thanks

The best OTC medicine to clear up a stuffed ass nostril is called "Afrin" there are generics available too. I have sinus problems and this stuff is literally a miracle. You will be so stuffed up one second that no air flow in and out of the nose is impossible, then do a couple of squirts up each nostril and you will be breathing like normal in no time. Any nasal spray with the active ingredient oxymetazoline hydrochloride will do the trick. There is a warning that says not to use for more than 3 days straight because your nose can become dependant on the medicine. I pretty much use it every day now though and it still does the trick.

I don't think there are any doctors here, they tend to be the enemy. It's good that he isn't paralyzed on one half but I would say that he probably still needs to go into the ER. Even if you did find something OTC that works all you would be doing is covering up the problem, a problem that seems like isn't going away and is most likely do to chronic abuse. Like others already said, it could be anything from a sinus infection to something more severe. It'd be nice to know exactly what was causing it, and perhaps treat it... I don't think anyone around here will be able to give much help.
