whats the diff? i'm told i need sodim hydroxide (or ammonium hydroxide) for a science projecet im planning. I was disscouraged from using lye but i'm trying to avoid visiting our local chemical supplier (you can't bus there - i don't have a vehicle) i heard i may be able to ge 98.3 % sod.hydorx. for ph up in pools but the best i found so far is a 100% sodium carbonate product?? with this work the same? any other suggestion on ways to buy sodium or ammonium hydroxide in a (nearly) pure form??
