Howdy all-

As some of you know, I've been on Suboxone for the past 3 weeks or so, after about 2 years more or less constant on Methadone.

I got my new methadone prescription yesterday, and took 50mg (and got surprisingly high, despite having dosed on the suboxone just 16 hours previous) and then took 50mg again today. My tolerance has definitely decreased.

Usually I could feel a buzz from 60mg (at once) for 5 hours. I felt buzzed until 10am the next morning (dosed at 2:30pm) and itchy straight up until I dosed again today, and that just made me itch like crazy again.

So, my question is: how long should I wait before I can take my Suboxone again? I never thought about this. I waited 72 hours last time, and I didn't have a problem. I mean, I didn't feel instant better, but it wasn't too bad.

Since I won't have had 2 years of methadone built up in me, instead just 2 days. How long should I wait before dosing Suboxone now?

It'll probably be easier to go 72 hours without dosing, I'll admit. I've only been taking about .5mg of the Buprenorphine, too.

I'll appreciate any help. It's unfortunate that there hasn't been much study done on the transfer from long-acting narcotics (really only methadone anymore since LAAM is gone) at differing doses and lengths of time that methadone has built up in the liver.

I mean, there's so many interesting aspects of the question.

Days of Methadone dosing // How soon Buprenorphine can be administered
Dose of Methadone // time to safe-dosing
Buprenorphine dose // ability to remove methadone from the brain

I can think of more aspects, but I'm too itchy to keep doing this.

Tommorow's my Bachelor's party!!! woot! I won't take methadone though. Just amphetamine, maybe 20mg of methadone to sleep though?

I took Sub about 12 hours after swallowing 240mg of OxyContin. The OC when taken whole has a pretty long half life but probably not as long as 'done. I know someone here will probably know from their own personal experience, but I would probably wait at least 16-24 hours.

^so did you experience any precipitated withdraws? has anyone here experienced them? because to be honest, i haven't heard of a single instance of someone actually claiming it happened to them. also, the first time i took suboxone, i wasn't really in withdraws that bad(it was like 10-15 hours since last fix) and i didn't feel any precipitated bullshit after dosing. i was actually surprised at how good i felt considering i wasn't withdrawing much beforehand. maybe i just have a fast metabolism? is there anyone here who can honestly say they have actually gone into precipitated withdraws?

Nosferatu, you haven't read some of my past threads apparently.

I've had 2 incidents of precipitated withdrawal. It is real, it can happen, and it is FUCKING HORRIBLE. Imagine a heroin rush in reverse. It was fucking intense, in a very, very bad way.

Both times I thought I had waited long enough (at least 24 hours after last pod dose), but was sorely mistaken. Fortunately, both times it only lasted a few hours, but christ it sucked so bad. It's like a week's worth of withdrawal packed into a few hours.

You couldn't pay me to go through that again.

no apparently i haven't read any of your other posts, thats why i was asking for someone to reply if they had went through it before...thank you for your response, you're the first person that i've seen/heard say that. and obviously it reacts to everyone completely different, depending on one's metabolism i'm guessing? but anyway, i know how you must have felt when that happened b/c i've had the same thing happen to me except w/naltrexone...worst day of my life

No I did not, but I was in what I would consider mild w/ds. Had the watery eyes and yawns. Sitar knows his shit about Subs. He was using Pods, which are long lasting just like methadone, that's why the switch is hard with those types of drugs. Short acting opiates are easier to switch over to. I was worried about the OC only because I swallowed them whole, had I snorted them I wouldn't have thought twice about taking a full dose at first.
