For those who take Neurontin

I'm doing some research on Neurontin/Gabapentin and wondered what others take as a dose.... either prescribed or not.

When I first started taking it, it made me feel foggy and tired. At higher doses though I noticed I got a funky buzz off of it, sort of like having a couple of drinks. I've been playing around with my daily dose and discovered that it stops most of my wd symptoms. I sleep, don't get sweaty/cold, the leg shakes disappear, and all this reappears when I stop taking it.

Anyone else want to swap stories? I'm sort of in awe at this point.

yep, i get the exact same benefits from it. I dunno if it'd last long-term, though

I take 800mgs 3 xdaily RX'd that way..for neuropathy. Doesn't help a lot with the pain..it did make me groggy when I first started it but that went away over time. It does help with Wd's though. As for feeling anything resembling any kind of "high" not that I've noticed. But of course everyone's body reacts differently to meds..so if it works for you..

An older gentelman friend of mine had a very plentiful script of this stuff a few years ago. He was always trying to get me and my junky friends to try them, but I have never liked them. The buzz is just crappy, dissagreable, as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't even find them effective for regular withdrawl or even post acute w/d. And believe me, I tried, alot, since there was such a seemingly unending supply of them...

what kind of dosages were you taking (milligram wise) to treat WD symptoms?

I know I'd trust Jahred's opinions regarding, well, just about anything. Especially his friends. Whatever they say, damn, it's so fucking true.

i'll say it again: day 3 complete abstinence from my usual 70mg of methadone/day, 900mg had me completely better for 6 hours. incredible.

I also take Neurontin for polyneuropathy. I consume 600mgs. 5x a day, about the same as Flip. Pretty much maxed out on it. The Neurontin does help with the "electrical shocks", but as with most meds, always wish they helped more. :(

I don't have any side-effects from the Neurontin. However, I'm on so many other meds that I probably wouldn't know if I did unless an ear was growing out of the middle of my forehead. ;)

Now why would I trust you when I just posted that it basically stopped my w/d symptoms? You have to take a high dose. I was on Neurontin years ago and hated it. But when I started taking it regularly, I noticed the benefits.

My mom takes it for neuropathy and says she gets very little pain relief from it.

Different strokes for different folks, and all that rot.
