suboxone or methadone?

Hi everyone, I would greatly appreciate some advice. is suboxone better or methadone? I'm currently on 24mg daily suboxone the 8mg pills. I miss the warm,energetic,ambitious,good feeling I used to get when I first started back in March of this year. Would I feel better on methadone? someone told me I would get a better feeling if I started snorting my subs. My doc told me dont dare do that or I will go into immediate horrible wd. I've had my share of wd and am afraid of wd like you wont believe. What should I do?

I'm not sure if you will go into withdrawal when you snort them. I know for a fact that you will go into withdrawal if you inject it. Buprenorphine has high oral bioavailability so it is good when taken orally in your mouth. Subuxone is mixed with Nalaxone and Nalaxone has poor bio-availability so when you take it orally it doesnt send you into withdrawal. They only put Nalaxone in the pills so people dont inject them. The Nalaxone has no effect when taken orally when mixed with the buprenorphine or alone. It's only effective when you shoot it. And it may be effective and create withdrawals when you snorts it but it may not cause WD and it could get you high who knows. I have read that Buprenorphine is a tricky drug and can cause WD's in people when they fuck around like that so I wouldnt do it. But maybe other who are on Buprenorphine can tell you for sure. I too avoid withdrawals like the plague.

If it's up to me I would definently choose sub and have chosen suboxone, I've been taking it for about a year and a half. Way back in the day I was also hooked on snorting, until I started shooting, then I tried to go way straight then got on sub, You know, I don't know if snorting it would throw you into instant w/d because "they" also say don't you dare shoot it, either. And I have a close friend who shoots it, yes the actual suboxone with naloxone and buprenorphine, don't get me wrong if you shoot like three 8 mg's in a shot you might get sick but it doesn't last very long(the being sick) but the suboxone works, but on the other hand if you were to shoot it (this is what a "friend" told me), and you use to much water you'll get nasty sick for like an hour or two then you'll be all better to fight the demons when you arise out of the darkness. So it's not like being in withdrawal for days and days. So I guess you can wait until the best of your curiosity gets to ya, But if it were me I'd obsess about it until I actually did it. Hello opioobsessed :) I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm doing this right. My first reply/post.

I ran across this reference in another thread: www.usdoj,gov/ndic/pubs10/10123/index.htm (http://www.usdoj,gov/ndic/pubs10/10123/index) It is a brief put out by NDIC on Suboxone which draws some very interesting facts when comparing Methadone to Sub - specifically on the topic of enhanced effects when snorting. You might find this helpful.

My opinion: I currently use Suboxone (8mg. x 2 per day). I have not personally tried snorting it but, I too have been told the same thing by other users - How snorting it enhances the effect of suboxone. However, why use it in a way other than the way it was designed to be used ?. It's not worth it. Screwing around with drugs is got us where we are now. Why repeat the same behavior and expect different results ? Some say that is the definition of insanity. I also have some experience with Methadone:( and, for a number of reasons, I would not wish the latter of the two on my worst enemy if given a choice between Suboxone and Methadone for maintenance !!! ( the brief mentioned above also addresses a few of these reasons).

This is only my opinion. We are all different and have to find our own way :confused: Go to the brief on the link I mentioned above. It will give you more data to put into your databank to mull over in making your own decision. Lots of Luck... Tony.

Buprenorphine has poor oral bioavailability - less than 10%. It has high sublingual bioavailability, however.

It [Suboxone] works just fine up your nose - and generally speaking, unless you are coming off a dope habit and still not stable or something, the narcan still goes right through you. Just don't shoot it!

Generally, methadone will give a buzz every time, a small one, whereas to some or most people bupe doesn't. It's something you need to consider. If you are taking 24mgs for a while and still craving opiates something isn't right.
