"Doc gives, then Doc takes away" [after I am addicted] -

There is trouble when I try to get a new doctor anymore - I found one who is willing to prescribe morphine, but he says the "College of Physicians and Surgeons" is demanding justification for prescribing morphine to 3 other patients in his care. He will be fined or lose prescribing rights if he continues to prescribe without providing documents.

Therefore, he is demanding that I produce those kind of documents before he starts prescribing to me. I have a neurological disease that produces pains, and some old injuries, and "Fibromyalgia" was diagnosed once. None of those things shows up on any test they use except to see my mangled leg, long ago healed but still very painfull in three areas. That is neurological pain. There will be no documents.

The thing is, I had these pains since I was 20 years old, and when I was 35 a doctor gave me morphine which really helped a lot with the pain and I could even be active much of the day. I had become suicidal over the pains, so morphine may have saved my life.

I became addicted, and 15 years without ever missing one day makes a real addict eh. I take it very regularly, going up very little at a time, and who ever goes down. So now I am taking 500 mgs a day in three doses.

And I am still having those pains. But now I am supposed to go thru withdrawals and find out how bad these pains are without morphine.... Suicide is one idea, but other than that I do not see how to get through this one. The Doc does not have any ideas either... "just stop taking it" is the leading edge of modern medicine I guess.

^^^this shit makes me pissed.

Doctors (not all of them, Euphoria;)) seem to have no clue as to how hard it is to find pain relief.

They swear to do no harm-but untreated pain is harm!

Fuck, I just get so frustrated talking about this shit.

If time is short,
get to the methadone clinic ASAP They will take you in, regarldess, you could be intaked within a week. Most want like first weeks pay up front, and then a 'induct' fee.. usually $80-$200, give or take.

Get dosed. 30mgs of methadone, first day. They raise it 10mgs a day after that until you're 'stable'

Go do it it right now, methadone works great, they use it a lot for pain people.. since it's such a along half life,

and then you'll be OK - and find a new doc in the meantime, who knows, methadone might just be the cure.

Not sure what your diagnosis is/are, but being you mentioned fibro...research Central Pain, Wind-Up Theory, and Arachnoiditis, then discuss with the Doc. If he's clueless, then, move on. Bet you for sure you have prob. 2 out of the 3. Personally, I'd move on anyway, he's a jerk.

Then when left with no alternative but to self medicate..when and if you get found out it's like Ah HA! See. I was right in cutting you off.

If you do go MMT, DO NOT mention that you are there for pain relief. Addiction to whatever only. When I looked into that option here I was refused after they read my medical records and was told " You belong in pain management" Well..ya think:rolleyes: " MMT is not set up to treat pain." Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Whoever had been RXing your meds should at the very minimum detox you. Of course we all know what they should do and what they will do are worlds apart most often.

Hope you find some relief soon.

Methadone clinics are bullshit. Yeah I know, from the users perspective it's different. But from my side of things it's bull. Here's why.

Methadone as we all should know, is no cure but rather, a replacement. To my way of thinking, medicine should primarily be about curing people of what ails them. That's what the priority should be. Methadone clinics, as they are run now, are all about making money for the physicians and pharmacists.

Someone has a drug problem? Great! We'll treat them, but instead of getting them off drugs, we'll get them to take ours. We'll have them all to ourselves taking our drugs that we're making money from.

Not just that, but so many patients in methadone clincs are just there because it's part of some conditional sentence. "Your honor, my client's drug habit is to blame for his crime, he is seeking treatment".... blahblablah, etc. What you get is a bunch of people who's reason for being in treatment, isn't to stop doing drugs, but to avoid doing time. I get people on MMT all the time still trying to score.

Yeah, MMT does help out a few people, but overall it's not much good.

You're right. It's a replacement. So he doesn't get dope sick in the process, go get on Methadone Klinik until he finds new doc, adn go back. Who knows, maybe from there they can refer him to a pain specalist.

BTW, I know some people who went to the local PAR clinic and were pain patients.. just couldn't afford to see the DR and pay the rx fee. They get dosed, but 'split dose'' it.. 400mgs cost the same as 30mgsat a klinic - they charge per day. This person got a split 400mg a dose, 200mgs to take in morning, 200mgs to take a night. Plus, after six months of no dirty urines, she got bi-weekly pickups.. seemed like that'd work for a pain patient..

anywho, clinics want money.. my first induct told me "between you and a hole in the wall, it doesn't matter" he was a cool guy though.

Point is, they'll take you, flash cash and you'll be inducted. Show up at 5:30 for "open seats" (you'll be scheduled like a week away) and get one.. you'll get in.

anyways, rambling.. raplacement till he can find new doc, to stop DTs and what not..
