View Full Version : Can you double your dose and not overdose?

So I have a question, and before you jump the gun and think its a stupid question with an obvious answer, I want you to really think about what I'm saying for a minute. My question is this: could one having maintained using at such a certain level for x amount of time safely double their dose without overdosing? Think about how when we all started out using, we were lightweights, eventually some of us have doubled, tripled, quadrupled, etc our tolerance to our poison. My logic is confused because I think about how when I first started using IV morph, I started at around 60 mg, within a few months it doiubled, and eventually it has gotten to where I was maintaining everyday on 400 mg. I always wanted to double my dose, but wondered if that would kill me, but at the same time, realized that at one time, I would dare not double my dose from 60 to 120, but looking back I think I probably would;ve lived, especially seeing as how much higher my tolerance is now. So my question remains: could one double their dose, no matter what the ROA is if one has been maintaining on X amount for X amount of time? At what point do we start playing with fire and encounter the potential of an overdose? I'd appreciate any insight, because I've been wondering about this for a long time

You have to remember that for morphine, and i assume it is in the form of Contin as opposed to ER liquid, you are not getting the full amount in your rig/spoon/works etc. For example, when you cook up a 100mg pill, for example, some of it is definitely going to be lost in the process whether it remains undissolved, it gels up, it gets stuck in the "cotton," whatever the case may be.

I know what you are referring to and i would say that for oral, or snorting, I would *imagine* you could double the dose without anything too detrimental happening. With intravenous use, however, the dose-response curve seems to be a lot steeper and doing a double IV shot, could very easily result in you having new accomodations, pine box style.

Be careful and be safe

After your recent experiences I'd have thought you'd place more value on life.

Two in the arm is better than one in the ground.

Stay safe.

Well said Nick!

And doubling your dose with an IV injection could very well cause an overdose.
Why risk it?
I know after years of injecting, you miss the euphoria you once got from a shot, but I wouldn't double my dose not knowing what effect it might have. You can always add, but once given, you cannot take it away!
