I've heard that alcohol addicts are deficient in selenium and a few other vitamins and/or minerals, and so it is recommended that alcoholics take supplements to replace those lost vitamins/minerals. So I'm curious if there are any vitamins/minerals that opiate addicts should also take? Perhaps something that is deficient in addicts as a result of opiate use?
I've taken multivitamins for the past few months, and I KNOW I feel like shit when I forget to take my vitamins in the morning. So it has me thinking that maybe there's something being depleted in my body that I really miss when I don't get my vitamin. I know they're supposed to make you feel good anyways, but I didn't really notice a big change in how good I felt when I went ON them, it's how BAD I felt when I MISSED a dose. Just curious if maybe opiates play a part in that, kinda like how alcohol does. And if so, what vitamin/mineral is it depleting? It'd probably be prudent to take a multivitamin AND that specific vitamin, especially considering that most multivitamins contain the FDA's recommended daily allowance, which in the case of vitamin C, is 60mg which is just barely enough to keep you from developing scurvy and not much good for anything else.
