Does anyone have any advice for dealin with anxiety naturally? I know all the common GP advice, excersise, no smoking, more exercise blah...

The reason why I ask is for some reason today I feel like Im gonna fuckin have a heart attack. I stopped taking xanax. I have some but dont necassarily want to take any, but will right after this post anyways. My prob with them is amnesia. Ill wake up the next day and not remember shit about the night before if im drinking. Even if Im not, ill be putting my keys in the door to my house, and feel like it isnt mine and have to look around to assure myself!!! The shit doesnt physically affect me like some, but makes my mind into mush and cant get relief unless Im on that dosage..

Any type of vitamins or herbals?? Hell the booze aint even workin today

My S.O. always tells me to BREATH.BREATH DEEP.

Oh and come to terms with the fact that life is chaos and all any of us can do is to try to do the right thing.

Embrace life bro, this is a one way trip and we might as well try and enjoy it.

sorry i know how badly this sucks
i get the same problems with xanax-plus it makes depression worse
the only natural stuff that works for me is kava kava--if you can get the real stuff-the powdered root
and saunas
a lot of folks use the booze bbut that makes it much worse for me

I hate to be the bearer of bad news here but i am truly convinced in my own experience, once you get dependent on xanax its damn near impossible to live without it ! im going on nearly 4 years with only a 6 month break in the middle of it and once you get dependent on xanax (im thinkin about asking for klonipin soon myself though) its damn near impossible with a true anxiety issue to live without it....it was a godsend for me but i try not to take it unless i need it or in wd then i run out too early and xanax wd besides being down right dangerous will punish your body beyound your wildest nightmares....i finally have accepted that I will prolly never be off of it...tried it....and if your anxiety is beyond mild, and youve had xanax already nothing else is going to compare..I have suffered with anxiety all my life since childhood and only one dr has been very generous with it for me....im truly thankful for it but yes ive done some fucked up things while on it...hubby said one night i sat straight up in bed and started chanting and my eyes were rolled back in my head...LMAO....he also swears i have yelled, screamed and have been very mean and i swear this to anyone I DO NOt hAVe ANY MEMORY OF DOING any of the sort of things he has told me he has seen me do once asleep with xanax....feels weird cuz i promise you i have no memory whatsoever of any of it.....but i know that xanax will screw with your short term memory...i deal with this on a daily basis..asking questions that have already been answered...hubby and kids think im crazy..hell, maybe i am :p but xanax will turn you into someone your not and you will not even have a memory of it !!!

Pill

Quick quest. for you (well a couple questions but they are all realted): I am scripted Xanax as well (1mg twice a day as needed; I rarely go over 1.5mgs in a day) How long were you taking it, and how much per day? Only reason I ask is becasue 2mg and over seems for a lot of peeps, me included, to cause a habit to form and all that good stuff. WD's , rebound anxiety and all that shit. The best thing would be to taper slowly over two to three weeks. I know exactly how you feel, man, I really do. Yeah if you wanna PM me with the info, I'll hook you up with a fatty taper schedule that'll let you off nice and easy, no WD's , no rebound anxiety, none of that shit.

Pill, the only thing that works as well if not better than benzos for the shit you are experiencing is GHB or GBL (gamma hydroxy butyrate and gamma butyralactone respectively---> GBL is legal to possess in most states, but GHB is controlled) The reason these work so well is that they tweak the GABA receptors; the same exact receptors that benzodiazepines do.

later dude

peace out

meditation man, meditation. no need for weird ritualistic style either, just sit, relax, and clear your mind. It may be hard to learn, but this is possibly obne of the best long term solutions i can think of.

once you learn to reach a meditative state, you will be able to go there whenever needed

Anxiety is a big problem and can affect someones life in bad way.
If your being handled by a GP or Internist, basically the doc you go for when you have a cold, etc. What you need is a psychiatrist to talk with. Anxiety disorders are quite common and can be controlled with other substances besides benzodiazepines, such as Xanax.

Exercise, such as a walk can help, things that get you out of your head, crosswords, things like that.
Taking a moment to look at what is going on at that moment or that day that may be contributing to your anxiety.

Stopping the Xanax cold turkey can cause anxiety as well. You need to be weaned off of them!

Ugh, I feel for you, Pillie. Meditation & breathing absolutely help - but it takes learning, dedication and practice. Honestly, there are times (many) in my life when the anxiety is so severe I HAVE to take something to calm myself down in order to do the meditation and breathing effectively. I've tried the herbal stuff - it's somewhat helpful, but also tends to make you sleepy. I had some bad, bad anxiety today - to the point of difficult breathing - and finally took a lot of klonopin to calm down so I could work. Then I felt greater than great.

In fact, think I'll go take some more....

Fucking SUCKS.

A friend recently shared with me a vendor that has very quality Kava, and Kratom.

However, I am not reccomending the Kratom as a means of coping w/ withdrawl.

You may be pleasantly suprised at how mellow, yet pleasant the Kava is, making it perfect for what you are describing.

Someone above mentioned meditation, and I second this..However, it sounds like you may want a "jumpstart" and Kava is the only thing that walks this fine line. Glad to share a link, if you P.M me.

Danshen! You can order it online. It's the only natural source of some benzo like chemical and it's non addictive. I hear valerian works on the gaba receptors too. Works for some people but I find it does strange things to my sleep patterns.

Nevermind the assorted herbs.Bro,go sit in the sun,or play with a cat,or watch kids play or take a hot bath and listen to Bach.

Find pleasure in the small things and the big things become bearable.
