Just a recommendation. . . don't mix xannax with zanaflex and trazadone in any decent amount. I take all of these at times, generally seperately and think that they are great medicines.

Recently I used them in moderate doses, in conjunction with several other substances, to try to alleviate some mild withdrawal symptoms. I ended up feeling worse than had I just left well enough alone. Fucking so dizzy upon standing that I thought I was going to drop, week and run down, and so sleepy that I couldn't keep my chin off of my chest no matter how hard I tried- and not in the good nodding opiate way.

I thought that I overdosed on that shit and wouldn't let myself go to sleep for fear that I wouldn't wake up. That probably wouldn't be the case, but it felt like it and I figure better safe than sorry.

The other stuff in the mixture was high doses of vitamin B compounds and some loperamide. Maybe the loperamide contributed to the problem as it can depress the CNS a bit it's self.

Normally, the trazadone is great for sleep, the zanaflex works well for muscle tension and causes mild drowsiness, and xanax is great for calming you down a bit. The problem I think was tossing the high dose of the muscle relaxer on top of everything after a decent dolop of xanax.

Reading up afterward, trazadone can lower blood pressure, and so can the zanaflex. Throw in some alprazolam to potentiate the other two together and I think it lead to dangerously low BP. A little too much shit in the mixture, you know?

It reminded me of clonodine, which makes me feel worse than just being in WD if I take it, but WAY worse!!! It kind of freaked me out. Just figured I would throw that out there as a warning, although I am not suggesting anyone reading this is as dumb as me;)

I didn't get the nick name chemical boy for nothing. . .with all of the truly dangerous shit we put into our bodies, sometimes I forget to take into account that other medications can be some serious shit too.

Oh well.

That's good advice CB
and adding in alcohol
can make withdrawals
considerably worse too.
Nothing like a hangover
during opiate withdrawals.

Yeah, that does sound pretty awful. The other thing I have wondered about is what the wonderful feeling of a hard coke comedown would be like during WD without any benzos or other goodies to take the edge off.

Just sounds wrong.

It's funny about the booze. I used to anaesthetize myself with booze any time I got sick- cold or flu or whatever. I would get myself a pint of whiskey or two for each day I was sick and it actually was rather nice. At that point I was drinking enough that I didn't often get hungover, so that wasn't an issue. Probably extended my recovery time, but I was always up for an excuse to skip work and drink all day.

yeah its funny how alchohol and withdrawl are better left not mixed....

but have a alchohol hangover, or go through DT's and some opiates work WONDERS.

but then, alcohol is no medication...and opiates are medications par excellence.
