So here it is, in all it's glory...

A huge evergrowing and pulsating thank-you to everyone who donated and made the software purchase possible! Plus, an equal amount of gratitude goes out to everyone who's contributed their knowledge and experience to make Opiophile.org what it is today.

Our upgrading process took a bit longer than we expected, and in fact we're still not quite finished, however at this point we've reached a point of functionality where we feel we're ok to move forward. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to check out some of our new features (soon to be announced right here.)

For now be sure to check out:
--Inline editing
--Shoutbox
--Expanded user stats

Soon to come is:
--Personalized profile pages
--Pill ID & Image database
--Chat

For those having troubles with the forum looking incomplete or broken, please clear your cache or refresh via ctrl-f5; your browser is pulling the old forum from your local machine instead of looking to us for the new software.

We're still working out some bugs. The big one, our the search index, is our main concern at the moment. If you're searching for something and are without results, it's a bug and we're doing what we can to fix it asap.

Another issue is donating members no longer shows as such in their 'postbit' (the area in their post which includes their name, avatar, etc.) We're working on this also.

Some of you may also notice that you have to 'click' to quick reply. The reason for this is so members who use threaded/hybrid modes can tell which post you're replying to. Use the 'quote' or the smaller http://forum.opiophile.org/images/gnome/buttons/quickreply.gif (http://forum.opiophile.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=4859) icon on the post you're replying to in order to correctly use this feature. This allows for many 'sub-topics' to exist in a thread. To check it out, scroll up to the top right and use the drop-down menu to select a different display mode. Find a thread with many posts and you'll see what I mean...

Please use this thread to post anything else you might notice as abnormal or even to post what's to your liking...

Search and Donate fields have been fixed. Anyone else see any strange happenings?

Bi11i..The board keeps logging me out all the time. If I view a thread, click reply..hell click anything at all. I have to log back in all over agin. It's really getting on my nerves. I checked out my browser, that doesn't seem to be the problem, cit happens in firefox, ie or netscape I checked em all.

I'll preface the slight niggles I've noticed with a big THANKYOU to you, bi11i, for putting in the time and effort on this software update/changeover (as well as the new banner, which looks way cool! :) Well done). Also thankyous to all of you who dug deep to help bi11i purchase the software (and this, as well as subsequent upgrades). This community rocks, it really does. You're a great bunch of people, opiophiles.

Okay, on to the stuff I've noticed so far:

"Quick reply" doesn't work as it used to... it says "click one of the "quick reply" icons above to activate this feature" or something like that... only problem is, I can't seem to find these "quick reply icons" - and the whole exercise seems to negate the purpose of the whole original quick reply system anyway...

Oh yeah, and I used to log in and it would tell me how many posts since my last visit (useful as I would just click on that and was able to get a list of the posts I needed to catch up on). This would be a number like 5, 9, 16, or maybe 35 if the board had been busy or if I'd gone out on a bender in Brisbane and hadn't checked the board for a couple of days.
But now, I log in and the "posts since your last visit" or "new posts" (actually I think it says the latter, come to think of it) is always a number in the region of four thousand and something... uh, WTF?

Also, the old warning at the top of each page about "the solicitation of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited" seems to be missing. bi11i, we need it back there.

You must click on the http://forum.opiophile.org/images/gnome/buttons/quickreply.gif (http://forum.opiophile.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=4877) or the http://forum.opiophile.org/images/gnome/buttons/quote.gif (http://forum.opiophile.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=4877)(advanced mode) icons to reply. I'll add this to the quick reply box to make it more noticable.

Some of this I tried to cover above, but did a bad job of it:

Be sure to clear your cache if you're having problem such as this...

The new posts feature is cool, I'll cover it more later when I have some time. All posts are now marked unread per user and the option for this is stored in the database. You can either use the custom 'Active Topics' or click 'New Posts'... Active topics simply displays all posts made from a specific time, new posts displays all new posts unread by you within the last xx days.

Also, full text searches are in effect. Before, we were using a special kind of search process provided by vBulletin, now we're able to search through the full database text, allowing you to find more specific results with a much broader scope...

I figured out what the problem was Bi11i. Somehow, and I have no idea how, a second firewall was installed on my computer that II use as the gateway enforcer to my home network. The other firewall was et to block all cookies, hence...my whole problem. I removed the interloper firewall and my network's data is flowing again.

np - hey anyone notice (and like) the way you can both edit and quick reply and your page doesn't even have to refresh? No more clicking 'back' twice to get back to the search results...

That's a great feature, as are some of the moderation features. Excellent stuff. Pardon my earlier complaining; it always takes me a while to get used to something new. :)

Being able to post inline is by far the best improvement. I'm looking to add a few new minor things here and there as the bugs work themselves out...

Firstly big up to you bi11i for doing the update, looks like alot of work has gone into it. Only two things ive noticed so far, although i've been walk about in a psych ward for two weeks so i'll proly spot more.

1: the shout box is a fucking ugly size, not ligning up properly. The attached pic shows what i mean. Also note my browser is ID as MSIE 6.0 although its actualy Safari, but ye, this happens with both browsers as far as i can tell.

2. i dont like the default theme much, but there is now point saying that, its an oppinion and everyones tastes are different. Maybe i'll pop a go at designing one that i like at some point in the future. eather way congrats.

also just a thaught, how about making the quick reply box invisible unless you click the quick reply button. I know of a site that does thins and i kinda like it, the pics explain it better than i do.

CLICK THUMBNAILS TO SEE FULL IMAGES, AND YEAH, NO THUMBNAIL FOR FIRST IMAGE, BUT IMAGE IS STILL THERE, JUST SHITTY IMAGE HOST, oups caps, sorry. btw, the inline editing fully fucking rocks.

the forum used is actualy invasion power boards but im sure something like this could be integrated easy anough. It would bu totaly cool if you could click the fast reply button and the window came open like the drop down menu for stuff like 'search' and 'quick links'. hope im making sense, doped up on psych meds and totaly wasted.

Thanks for your feedback Shinobi, much appreciated.

I'll get right on it in figuring out why the Shoutbox window is so far down the page. You're using Safari there, right?

My apologies on the theme. The problem (for now) is that because the new and updated forum code is still a release candidate, there are template changes every time an update is released. This means I have to go back into each and every template and check for or redo what I've done prior to updating. Doing this to multiple themes is a pain in the arse, to say the least. I actually have a couple of other themes and in fact put together one I really like over at www.fuckyoucomputer.com, I just need to import it after the next vBulletin update (should be soon!)

I'll look into your Quick Reply request. We'll try it out, but I think many users will just think it to have disappeared. I think the best way to go would be to make a theme that supports this and simply call it 'Safari'. Do you know of a theme on another vB board that you're interested in? I'll gladly contact the admin and see if they're willing to part with it...

Thanks for your suggests, they're always welcome.

Ok, another theme has been added (although I'm not sure how much better than the first.) 'Curtains Up' inspired by the Wordpress theme of the same name...

Any specific theme requests? Smaller text, larger text, colors, etc?

A triple post for me, holy shit - my bad.

I've bugged a few on the size of the shoutbox - I can't seem to reproduce the problem anywhere else. I'm trying to get the author or at least someone with some coding knowledge to take a look because I honestly can't find anything wrong with it. it's actually really simple, there's not much there to cause the problem you're having.

I'll keep working at it until there's some sort of resolution - just an update for you (although not much of one...)

how about making the quick reply box invisible unless you click the quick reply button. There should be a http://forum.opiophile.org/images/gnome/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif button to minimize the Quick Reply window. Minimize the Quick Reply and it will expand only when you choose to click.

Any chance at adding a "windows sound alert" with a on/off toggle for those utilizing the chat?

~S~good suggestion. Actually, we're working on getting a real chat up and running. We actually purchased a somewhat spendy module that we were unable to get to both work and merge with opiophile so we went back the drawing board and have found a couple of others. We're even thinking of possibly moving the O-phile to a different server. Soon...

we're always willing to make changes or additions, all you have to do is ask and we'll do the best we can. No props out to me on this one, all that I did was check a few things out.

By all means, suggest away...
