Hello all, i have a friend that is prescribed to Xanax 0.5 mg 3 times and a day and he also does suboxone recreationally to kick his narcotic habit and recently when he went to the doctor he found his blood pressure was high, and he asked me if it was from the suboxone, after doing some reasearch all that i could find is that suboxone/subutex actually could lower your blood pressure??? i know that my friend injects probly 1/4 of an 8mg subutex twice a day. does anyone know if this is what is causing his high BP?? thanks all

Yeh, I wonder too about the HTN. This probably is the wrong forum to ask, but my BP went up suddenly after I started taking Kratom regularly; I also do other opiates. I know that opiates tend to lower BP, but what about long-term use? Maybe that increases the pressure just like long time alcohol use??

I would say that more than likely it is an absence of opiates that would cause an increase in BP. In other words if you were in w/d's it is likely that your BP will be higher than if you were on your normal dose of your DOC. It could also be that you or your friend are someone who is going to have high BP that will need treated. It generally happens in your early to mid 30's, that is when you will notice it creeping up suddenly. High BP is a silent killer, if you noitce it is elavated on a daily basis, talk to your doctor about treament. It can lead to lots of shit like heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots. That's just a few.

Yep, Roxi's right. I, too, would strongly suspect that it's the lack of stronger opiates causing the rise in blood pressure rather than the Suboxone itself. Suboxone in and of itself will cause a lowering of blood pressure.
When I first got on the Subs, I would get frequent hot flashes and spikes in my blood pressure, which I treated with Clonidine.

right on Sitar, that is why Clonidine is RX'd alot of times during detox along with Subs and possibly a benzo.

Your AV is an animated .gif file. That's why it moves. Whoever made it had the option when they saved it to decide what the delay would be and how fast it would move. So the designer and a program

Yea they gave me clonodin while I was in detox.
Ive had HBP lately, I wonder if my sub doc would prescribe me some clonodin.

Clonidine rules, and honestly, I would rather have Clonidine than benzos for a withdrawal or taper anytime. Much more effective for treating WD than benzos.
It's pretty easy to get prescribed, and my bupe doc had no problem writing me a script for it. He even asked me how much I wanted.
If you get some, be sure to go easy with it until you know how you'll react. It lowers your blood pressure substantially. Just take .1 mgs once to see how you feel and then if necessary take another .1 several hours later. I wouldn't exceed .3 in a day unless you're having serious high blood pressure issues, in which case you might want to see a doctor.
When I was in detox a couple years ago, they gave me .3 mgs a day and on the 3rd day my blood pressure crashed and I had to go to the hospital. It sucked bigtime. I just wanted to lay down and sleep it off, but they made me go. Being dopesick with super low BP in the hospital hooked to an IV isn't too fun.
It's a great medicine, but it can make you drowsy which is why whenever I use it, I only use it in the evening. When you're tapering or in WD, it greatly helps you get some sleep without having to take an addictive drug like a benzo. Very useful stuff to have on hand.
